I (19F) had a medical appointment today with a male medical practitioner for a problem I’ve been having which I am soon having surgery to resolve (an extremely minor, non-invasive surgery) and he made me feel extremely uncomfortable. He was very rude and acted as if he were annoyed and I was taking up valuable time which he would rather have been spending elsewhere, and it was almost as if he was blaming me for the health issue. He made sarcastic and mean comments (the rude type of sarcasm, not the jokey type) and the female nurse assistant was visibly cringing the entire time. He acted like he was disgusted by my body and the problem I was having was all my fault. I left on the verge of tears and have felt terrible about myself all day. I felt like I was back in high school dealing with bullies and shaming all over again. The entire 40 minutes or so was extremely humiliating and just a horrible experience altogether. Is this a normal part of the medical experience or am I correct in thinking this is highly inappropriate and a patient should always be made to feel comfortable and respected during an appointment?

Hi! New here. I’m an EA promoted to special assistant when my boss was appointed to a cabinet level position in a tribal government last year. I LOVE my job. I’m his eyes and ears. I’m in charge of so many things and he trusts me fully. I keep him out of trouble and he appreciates that and tells me often.
When we initially were promoted I picked up a lot of slack in duties such as setting up our structure, creating positions, establishing processes, etc.
Now I feel like I need to step back and just support him. I still have many many projects going and I just don’t feel like that’s my role any longer since everything is in place. I’m the fixer of everything yet I make a fraction of the salary that his leadership team makes.
I have created a plan which includes either a promotion for myself and I continue doing extra duties, or hiring someone to manage projects and I focus on supporting him.
What’s the best way to start this conversation and present my idea? I have drafted a job description and a few different plans. I am someone who needs something to look forward to. I want to know his plan for me and I want to be coached for potential advancement. I’m afraid I will be overlooked and pushed aside with no feedback because he just trusts me to handle things since he is new to his roll as well. He doesn’t make a lot of time for me and I have yet to have a performance evaluation. Help me! He gets awkward and fidgets when I start these types of conversations so I shut down. He’s a great guy but also very insecure and feels undeserving of his role. Against my better judgement, he truly has me feeling that he needs me and I’m loyal to a fault.
This may not be the group for me bc my role is a bit different and leans more toward “chief of staff.” I have other admins reporting to me so they support me and my projects while I support him.

Trump is a criminal and also too old and unfit for office and totally corrupt.... Can we please please please get a couple of reasonable candidates to vote for... literally any regular ass American would be better.
Let's start out with my intention. I would love for this post to get 69 million 420 thousand upvotes... but seriously, I want as many people as possible to see this because the media is starting to make me feel like I am the only person who sees that this election cycle is nuts.
This Presidential election is looking to be a choice between two terrible options... I will outline all of my demographics followed by my thoughts and I would really like to hear some alternative opinions because as a regular ass voter, I see nothing but terrible options from the two parties and I am starting to feel like I am the only one who sees that the current political landscape is a total shit show.
Demographics: Ethnicity: Caucasian Gender: Male Age: 35 Occupation: Military Officer Education: BS (it was a bullshit degree but also a bachelor of science) Relationship: Married (divorced once but I deserved it. I was a total shithead the first time) ... happy to provide any other demographics but at the end of the day I am a regular American with a regular salary, a regular job, a regular everything else.
Biden Let me start off by admitting that I was wrong about this guy. I voted for him in the last election because I felt like President Trump was unstable as fuck and presidential policy should not be posted on social media or be based on how one man is feeling that particular day. Biden promised a lot, I didn't expect much from him, to be honest, but I had hoped that we would at least get a president who was able to fill the role at a basic level. I was not looking for Teddy Roosevelt or Abraham Lincoln. I was simply hoping for a President who would show up to work, have a reasonable foreign policy, who would put some pressure on the corporations and their CEOs making millions of dollars, and who would address the issues that the majority of Americans were dealing with like student loans, health care, unfair taxes, and loopholes that benefit the 1% and fuck the 99%. End of the day I was hoping that he would look out for the 99 and not the 1%. So far we have got some good and bad in terms of policy... he got us out of the war in the middle east even though that was completely fucked up... poor planning... total rush to failure. Thank God that more people were not killed or injured and God bless those service members who sacrificed all for this shitty plan, they were patriots and I am thankful every day that we have Americans like them willing to "stand the watch." He got some relief for parents who could use the help financially when times were tough during covid but he totally fucked it up when he fumbled the ball when it came to supporting the unions like the rail workers, amazon, etc, he fucked up student debt relief (we shouldn't ONLY forgive loans...we need to address the outrageous price tag on education in addition to the loans)... He appointed Mayer Pete who had one job as Transportation Secretary and totally fucked that up by prioritizing his image over actually dealing with airline travel (I am a pilot so a bit read in on this topic... he screwed the pooch on this one), trains, and the supply chain.... he also has been a bit short sided on Ukraine support.... (Ukraine deserves independence but there needs to be an explanation of what we are getting as taxpayers for our money... Please explain to me what the return on investment is for the billions we are spending. I do not have an issue with spending our tax dollars on helping make the world a better place but I need to know how my $50B+ is making a difference before you spend it.) Also his sons.... Beau was a naval officer who allegedly did a bunch of drugs.... should have been booted out of the military and Hunter absolutely took dirty money and it was all covered up. President Biden may not have been involved in any of that but at the end of the day, all of the sins of his sons were covered up for the benefit of their father.
Trump As a white male military officer, I thought I was definitely a Republican before this guy came into office. I mean come on, I was basically their prime demographic. At least that is what I was told my whole adult life. I was unsure when he was elected as I thought this was a publicity stunt. Then he put "Mad Dog" Mattis in office as the Sec Def and I thought "America, Fuck YEA!" he had a bunch of crazy ass tweets and I wrote most of them off because I trusted that General Mattis and the rest of the cabinet would keep the country on the right track. And then he fired Mattis. This was the point when I realized this dude is a sociopath who only cared about being "right". He gave no fucks about what the correct decision was... all he wanted was to be "right." The most respected military General since Colin Powel was fired/resigned from the office of Sec Def under President Trump.... This was shocking. But who knows what happened behind closed doors.... perhaps this was for the best. Then the election and Jan 06. And since then this dude has been the sorest loser I have ever seen. It has been 3 years and he is still talking about how the election was stolen and if you disagree with him he will blackmail you into agreeing with him or he will support your opposition candidate. Fuck this dude. That is not how democracy works..... I do not disagree with his foreign policy as a military officer... He made some solid decisions regarding China and his critique of NATO was not completely incorrect. He said things and made decisions that others were afraid to say and do and I was into it but he also said and did things that was I absolutely not into... if you want America's help then there has to be some benefit to the American taxpayer... if you want to fuck around and find out with OPEC and your pilot students shooting up an American Military Base... then enjoy fighting your wars with Iran on your own.... I full-heartedly believe that the American Tax Payer should see a return on investment for their taxes but President Trump seems to only actually give a shit about his own personal gain. Let's not be naive, his son-in-law totally got paid off by Mohammed bin Salman. He 100% had the support of the Putin regime. He gave himself and his buddies tax breaks that he did not afford the 99%. He said a lot of crazy shit. This guy is nuts and doesn't give two shits about the 99%. He will gladly give you a MAGA hat for your donation but when it comes to actual policy, he has shown that he will take your money, put some in his own pocket, some in the pockets of his friends, and then give you just a little bit back so that you feel like you got the good end of the deal.....The average American made much less than the 1%... he gave you some back in covid relief to make you forget that you were getting royally fucked.
I am not running for president but if I was this would be my platform... in other words, this would be the platform that I wish we could vote for!
There are a lot of other policies that we can go through here and no POTUS is going to have all the answers (that's why he or she needs a strong cabinet). I hope that there is some discussion started here... but at the end of the day.... the two candidates that we are likely looking at are both unfit. We deserve some quality candidates and not the old crazy reality TV star and the Old washed-up politician with a terrible VP. Give me someone reasonable to vote for, please!

None of us were allowed any input, we found out after the fact, upon seeing her beaming face in the hospital newsletter as well as the local newspaper. Who did they choose? An on-the-job-trained medical assistant from the clinic. She's a nice enough gal, but isn't even a CNA, let alone licensed or certified in any way. That was probably the coldest slap in the face we front line nurses have ever been dealt. So how does everyone out there feel about this? Are we petty for being mad as hell? How do you feel when Medical Assistants refer to themselves as NURSES? It's an outright lie. Is this even legal?

What are the Doctorate in Clinical Laboratory Science (DCLS) Salaries? Is this degree worth pursuing? They look to cost roughly $80-100k, so trying to gauge if it's worthwhile financially or I should look at other degrees (MBA, MSN direct entry, Pathology assistant or Physician assistant). If I was 5-10 years younger, I'd consider med school. I don't feel challenged at all by my job except by the workload.

I will try not to go too much into specifics. Have been with the same company since graduation for a couple of years. I am a young professional. Worked very very hard for the first few years in a toxic environment. Leadership changed, things changed. I got more respected, got a big raise (was making little money for what I had been doing), and now am in a somewhat comfortable technical position, where I know the way of the land, and have somewhat low stress.
Here is the thing, deep down I am very ambitious. I’m not afraid to work, but the initial years that were toxic, stressful and low-pay left a mark. I closed my self-off to grow in that particular company and stopped trying too hard (still did a great job tho). Somewhat of a trauma when I think of being that stressed again (it was not the work, it was mostly very very toxic people. Most now left the company) I was very much looking for other positions in other companies, but for some reasons I gotta to stay in this company for more time.
A position opened in the company for a product manager position. My company has little vertical mobility, so that was an interesting surprise. That are a lot of pros and cons. I have worked closely with the department in question as a technical lead, and I believe I would have a high chance of being chosen for the position. The old PM indicated that I should apply if I wanted… Should I apply?
Pros: - it’s a bit less technical, and more project management oriented position. Which is something I was looking for in other jobs - It would propel my career. I’m somewhat stuck where I am, and am a little bored. The current department I’m at seems not to invest in me as much - I have dealt with the products in question closely. Have even jumped in as almost a PM in a few occasions. It can be a nightmare, but if I organize well enough. I think I can handle it. - I have good relationships with people that can help me place projects together - I was studying to be a PM, and a PM position opened up
Cons: - there is a huge responsibility involved, and initially I would not have anyone under me to directly help/assist me. It’s a lot of expectations for one person, and that’s why the other guy probably left (he left to another position that he felt more comfortable) - I have a plan in mind to set boundaries, implement processes, and things like that, but it will be a lot of work. It involves people of other countries and late calls (I will set boundaries for sure). It makes me afraid of the stress. I’m sure I can do a great job, but I don’t know if the company will give me the tools/environment to succeed - department is very disorganized, which is why the are also looking for someone to set things straight - afraid to crash and burn or be under extreme stress constantly
If I got the position, I would request a hire to work with me, cause there is no way this job can be well done by one person.
Anyhow, I don’t have any specific on salary yet, cause I have not showed interest yet, but I’m sure there will be at least a 20k jump. Which is definitely not worth the stress, but probably worth the career propulsion…
I’m pretty much set on applying for it and taking the risk, but very much nervous about it as well. Worst-case scenario I could be positioned back to my current position due to my knowledge.
TDLR: new position in company I worked for a few years. Potentially stressful, but good for my career. Wondering if I should give it a shot.

My grandmother fell ill and was diagnosed with cancer back in December. She’s been okay since about 2 weeks ago where she had to be put into a nursing home/assisted living.
I know, I know, this sounds awful. But I don’t want to visit her. I’m afraid. And I fucking hate that. The fact that I’m afraid and the guilt is making me feel sick within itself.
I’m afraid to go into the building because I am afraid I’ll get the flu from in there. I also feel the same way about seeing my nephew, especially while he is in school.
I’ve graduated from my exposure therapy group almost a month ago and it feels like I’ve made progress a lot but regressed a lot too. I know recovery isn’t linear, but I mean come the fuck on, it’s my GRANDMOTHER. And she doesn’t have much time left.
I also struggling with the concept of ‘obligation’ to family. Hate the fact that I feel obligated to see them or be with them even before my emet was triggered.
Anyone have any advice ? Maybe not reassurance, but just some kind words. I’m really struggling.

I am part of an Australian based company and we are looking to hire our first graphic designer virtual assistant. Our work/industry is pretty niche, so we will need to train the person. Is better to try and hire directly or use an outsourcing agency? Since it's graphic design, we really need to see a portfolio before I even want to interview anyone. These agencies seem to show CVs that sound great, but do no show portfolios.
I've also heard you are better to hire someone from the regions and not Manilla as they're more likely to stay in the job for longer. We want to find someone that will stay around for at least 2 years, as we don't want to spend too much time training someone again. January to March is our busiest time of the year. Is it possible to put an extra person on just for this time or would the VA be flexible to do extra hours?

I don't know if this is anxiety or an intellectual problem?
I didn't go to pre-K, I did go to a morning class but I never went to pre-k. In 1st grade I went half days, and my mom would take me out in the afternoons. I did go to a homeschooling teacher for a little while, I can't remember how I did. Then 2nd through 4th grade I went normally. Then, she took me out to homeschool me, it didn't work out so she stuck me back in later in the year.
I surely fell behind because I couldn't stay focused on my schoolwork at home, that's why my mom put me back in public schooling. Which I'm thankful for. I missed a lot of school through my education years, due to an illness I had which had me vomiting quite frequently. They took me out of class for math because I fell behind, and I had comprehension issues due to my ADHD. I have attention deficits. But, now it's gotten better. In 5th grade towards the end of the year they brought up to my mom they would like to place me on an IEP due to falling behind in a few subjects; Reading and Mathematics.
Fast forward to current time, given I was in an IEP I feel like I'm intellectually or developmentally delayed. I feel like I'm slow, I currently live at home and work in the hospital as a certified nursing assistant. I work full time, but I feel dumb. I pay rent at home even though I'm so bad with money it's insane. I'm impulsive with money especially, I prioritize things badly. I know I'm doing it too, it's just like impulsive. It's weird. I have bad anxiety, social anxiety as well.. anxiety for every situation it seems like. I've gone to therapy for it, because I feel like I'm existing... not living. My therapist says that given that I was able to pass my CNA state certification I'd have to be average or above average in intelligence to even pass it.
I feel like everyone around me knows something is "off". Even though I haven't heard it, I'm sure they talk? I don't really care about anything else anyone has to say BUT the thought of them thinking that I'd be slow or intellectually delayed bothers me. As a kid I walked and talked on time, and passed my childhood milestones. It wasn't ever indicated I was intellectually delayed.
I got employee of the month 2 months being in the hospital, but I've made big mistakes no one got hurt. I've been a CNA 4 years prior. These nurses are my age and younger and they seem so mature. I feel like sometimes I feel dumb and inadequate. I'm quiet, but I want to be smart and an intellectual. They always say how a hard job I do. These nurses hangout and are friends with each other. I feel out of sorts here. There's been times where they come sit by me cause I sit away from them. Do you think they think something is off? They seem to like me and keep me included. THEY are articulate, I think I'm articulate online but offline it's bad.
I don't know if I'm overthinking this?
There's patients that come in with cognitive deficits or intellectual disabilities. I don't act like them, but everytime I hear something along those lines I panic. I worry people think that about me. I worked with adults with intellectual disabilities and it triggered something in me. I had to quit because of it.
I got drunk the other night and said to my friends "I think I'm slow" and they were like "No you arent!" But idk if they say they cause they didn't want to hurt my feelings.
The CNA test is common sense but my therapist said that I'd have to hold an average intelligence.
I still live at home, I'm 26, needing dental work done and now I have to get insurance on my own because I don't have any now. I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety. Is this just anxiety? My one friend said socially I probably have anxiety over. I do have bad social anxiety and I'm quiet. I spend money and sometimes go into overdrafts, I'm bad with money but I know I am and it's an issue. I spend money to be happy, because I'm so sad a lot. I am paying off my car to my mom, I pay rent everyday check to my mom. It's not like I'm living here for free. I would love my own place but I can't afford it.
I wish I didn't expose this to my friends cause now they probably think it. My one friend said that my social skills kinda lack but I have social anxiety. Meaning I'm quiet, is what she meant. I always try to articulate my feelings but my nerves get in the way.
My therapist said in order to pass my CNA exam I'd have to hold a level of average intelligence.

They usually do not work at the client company's office. This is primarily encountered by Indian nationals, as it is rare for Chinese nationals to apply for H-1B visas while in China.

Usually, the detailed requirements can only be seen when you receive a physical RFE letter, so some people feel that there isn't much they can do before receiving this letter.

Part 3: Pitfalls to Avoid with RFEs
⚠️ Gap between two degrees under CPT should be filled with either unpaid leave or unemployment. During this period, there should be no paychecks. If asked during an RFE, you need to provide evidence that there was indeed no paycheck. It doesn't need to be mentioned in the cover letter, though.
⚠️ It takes approximately 10 days from transitioning from online status to receiving the physical RFE letter. If it takes too long, it's advisable to inquire about the status.
⚠️ Active participation and regular communication with the attorney are crucial when responding to an RFE. Many small and medium-sized companies allow attorneys to show you the contents of the RFE and involve you in preparing the response. While only H-1B applicants (employers) can file an appeal, it doesn't mean you shouldn't be involved. The success of the RFE response often depends on the attorney's work, so it's best to participate as much as possible.
⚠️ The processing time for submitted RFE materials can be lengthy, sometimes taking several months. During this time, you can still proceed with your employment, so don't reject any job offers and avoid waiting idly. If your application gets denied and you have already started working, you will need to be removed from the company's payroll. Therefore, whether to choose premium processing (PP) should be discussed with the attorney, carefully analyzing the requirements outlined in the physical letter. There have been instances where selecting PP led to a change in the reviewing officer, who deemed the previously submitted materials insufficient, resulting in another round of RFE and ultimately leading to a denial.

⚠️ An appeal does not automatically grant legal status to the beneficiary, nor does it suspend the execution of the original decision or extend the original date of departure.
