2023.06.02 06:06 bluejeanbaby28 25 and about to be divorced - need words of wisdom!

Title says it all. I’m 25F and soon to be divorced. My ex and I got married two years ago. We met in college, and were roommates before dating and getting married. We’re getting divorced now. Truthfully he had one foot out the door throughout the marriage. In the end, he said that he had never been quite as sure about me as I had been about him and he hopes to find someone who loves him as much as I loved him. He isn’t sure about what he is looking for or why I wasn’t right for him so he walked away.
Things are going okay for me. I’ve moved into a new place, and he’s moved away. We’re still in a little bit of contact because of logistics, but not really talking outside of that. I’m trying to stay busy and just focus on myself and my friends and family at the moment.
There are good and bad days. I guess I’m looking for advice for the bad days. If you got divorced around this age, I’d love to hear your advice.
First of all, this isn’t something I want ANY time soon. But, the thought occasionally does cross my mind that I may never actually be married again or build a life with someone again because why would someone want to be with someone who was divorced in their 20s? I acknowledge that I’m much more than my divorce and past, but I do wonder. I’m not afraid of being alone for the foreseeable future. I love being on my own and I’m excited to spend my time doing whatever the hell I want. But the fear of ending up alone scares the shit out of me. People have enough trouble dating these days as is, and with this history, I just worry occasionally that I’m doomed. Even with just casual dating, I worry sometimes that this could be a huge red flag. I wouldn’t even know how to bring it up?
If you had these fears even when you weren’t looking to date and it was something to consider way down the lane, how did you overcome the fears and just find peace?

2023.06.02 06:04 hellozen99 HELP how do I get my dog to give appropriate corrections to other dogs?

I have a year old intact German Shepherd (he’s getting neutered tomorrow), like most puppies he LOVED an inappropriate play style, jumping on other dogs, pulling their ears etc etc, he plays with dogs the same age as him so they also did the same & loved it.
So now my dog has attended a board & train, and he is a very well behaved dog with great manners. He has learned that jumping, humping & play biting other dogs is inappropriate.
Here’s the problem… he now has NO tolerance for this play style, and hates other dogs jumping on him or play wrestling. He will give a correction, then kind of have a stand off, and if the other dog doesn’t back down to him or doesn’t listen to his correction he will go into a full fight mode. The other dog always fights back just as hard, I haven’t ever seen him in a fight where the other dog is submissive.
Obviously, I need to stop allowing play dates with dogs who aren’t as well behaved. HOWEVER we are a military family who have no friends & family around, therefore we do rely on boarding & daycare facilities. I need to know that my dog is going to not let himself escalate into a fight. He has had two fights and I can’t put into words how frightened I was.
I was thinking “keep exposing him to other dogs, let him see nothing bad is going to happen and there’s no threat” today, I took him to a dog park (forgive me, I know I know, and I won’t do it again), he walked into the dog park and within 30 seconds of entering he had 4 dogs around him, sniffing him, being overbearing but not to bad, then all of a sudden this pitbull marches over and starts barking in my dogs face, this got all the other dogs startled and they started growling at my dog. My dog didn’t react but he leaned into me and looked up at me, I am SO proud that he looked to me for protection in this situation and I reinforced the behavior by immediately leaving the dog park, and I took him into the “shy dog” area where he could play alone but still sniff dogs through the fence. A huge 100lb husky came to the fence, started growling at him in a super low tone, staring, hackles raised, he clearly wanted to attack my dog. I left immediately and opted for a walk in the field instead. On my way out the owner said “I’m sorry, he doesn’t usually react to dogs like that I’m not sure what’s happening” I asked him if his dog was neutered and he said no, is it possible that his dog could smell that my dog wasn’t neutered? Is this why dogs pick on him so much?
My dog isn’t defensive or confrontational around dogs, but if they show any signs of being on edge or like they might fight, he just goes for it (aside from today where he looked to me to help protect him, which I’m thrilled about)
I want to have a dog that does well with other dogs, since we rely on daycares etc. and that’s why I’m so keen to continue with socializing, I know I shouldn’t use the dog park but I don’t know a single soul around here, aside from two other people with dogs but their dogs are badly behaved. Is his behavior appropriate and other dogs are the problem? Please give me some tips.

2023.06.02 06:04 jlinbu The case for [Wildcat's Revenge] as an elite RMC

I want to start with a disclaimer that Wildcat's Revenge is NOT somehow definitely better than your favorite RMC. The three RMC hypers have clearly earned their place in the discussion for "the best" and will likely retain their spot in many of your rankings. I have only ridden Iron Gwazi of the big three but what WR is able to pull off with only 140 feet of height, a mere 62 MPH and 3500 feet of track is unreal. It is not as brutally fast or intense as Gwazi and doesn't have that elite signature element like the death roll. Somehow though, after 13 rides on Wildcat's Revenge, I found myself increasingly wanting to rank it higher than Gwazi. On my final night ride in seat 15, it narrowly earned my personal #2 spot formerly occupied by Gwazi. I am keeping an open mind since I need to get a Gwazi night ride.
First, my spoiler free review:
WR is very well paced. There really is no downtime on this coaster but I also understand that applies to a lot of RMCs. On paper, WR doesn't seem like anything special in the height category. Ultimately, WR feels like exactly what it is: the result of years of RMC iterating on and perfecting elements and stringing together a highlights reel of the best examples of classic RMC wave turns, off axis hills, double downs and whippy inversions but incorporating new and different forces into them. I'll get into the nuts and bolts in the spoiler section. As a result of this not being a super intense "stat monster", this is a very re-rideable coaster. Today was a brutal, humid 90 degrees in full sun but I watched all ages, kids clearly younger than 10 and even a lady who appeared to be in her 70s get ride after ride after ride and very few were leaving for breaks. WR isn't trying to be the best at anything and as a result element after element just string together so well.
Another unexpected thing about WR is just how much the ride varies row to row and even left to right. It feels like each row has "its element" and a simple back or front seat ride is not enough to really experience everything this ride has to offer. While I haven't gotten 24 rides to experience every seat, I was easily 10 rides in and still being wowed by the extra "pop" or "whip" certain elements had in certain rows. I really got the impression that the profiling of each element was specifically designed to add more violent air or whip to a different cars and really give every rider at least one elite element. If you get an opportunity to ride more than once, please do yourself a favor and try multiple rows. If you only have time for one ride, I recommend seat 15 as you get a nice mix of violent ejector, strong whip, hang time, and laterals.
--Spoilers--
Prelift: The prelift is quite good in the back car and does give some good airtime. Even in the front, it's decent enough to not feel like "filler"
First drop: Very good, very sustained ejector in the back car getting weaker towards the front. It's a very good drop, not elite like Skyrush's drop but still a strong #2 in the park.
Underflip: This is where the row you sit in really begins to matter. Towards the front, there is strong whip and it enters and exits the inversion quickly and aggressively. Towards the back, its far less whippy but you get the consolation of a really nice weightless feeling. Not quite hang time but also not pushed into your seat either.
Airtime hill: It's a solid, sustained, ejector hill. Nothing fancy going on here, just good old-fashioned airtime.
1st Wave Turn: This is a good, RMC playbook wave turn. On my rides, it seemed to hit a little harder towards the front but still enjoyable in every seat. It's not large enough to be sustained like Lightning Rod's 1st but still pops and taken fairly quickly.
Zero G Stall: Another element where row choice matters. The back row gets a similar weightless feeling to the underflip just far more sustained. The profiling is such that this would be a sustained floater hill, except you're upside down. IMO, the back wins this element but once again, it feels different in a good way the further you are front. I want to get a true front row ride because my row three ride (furthest front I rode) almost got to true hang time and I'd imagine row one is the whole way there. Grain of salt and all if I'm wrong
2nd Wave Turn: Noticeably punchier than the 1st and doesn't feel like a repeat of the first. This is the element where the ride transitions from larger, sustained elements to rapid-fire, punchy elements that seek to keep upping the ante.
Double down: HOLY SMOKES is this ever an unexpectedly good element. You come in with a decent pop of airtime (ejector towards the front, milder in the back) then immediately into violent unbanked laterals and an ejector pop at the end. In seat 15, I was still in mid air when the laterals hit and never fully returned to my seat until the element was over.
3rd inversion: Great whip, better in the front. Solid inversion and definitely not like anything I've seen on an RMC yet.
Turn around: Really the only dull element on the ride. They had to turn the train around quickly somehow. I wish it did something more than just turn you but it's still faster and better than Candymonium's hammerhead turn.
4th inversion: This is even whippier than the previous inversion, not quite Gwazi "death roll" level or Mosasaurus Roll level but definitely a top tier, well-profiled inversion. Side note here: the inversion is a head chopper directly above the lift hill. There is an opportunity for a perfect "duel" by dispatching early into the pre-lift/lift block but it requires nearly perfect ops. Despite the controlled circumstances of media day and the director trying to get the duel on camera, I didn't see them get the timing quite right.
Airtime finale: It's a classic RMC finale. Off axis airtime hills taken quickly 1-2-3. The airtime gets more extreme as you go and that last pop into the brake run in some rows is the single most forceful on the ride.
Night ride: WR has a night light package which adds to the experience. It's not an elite night ride by any stretch but it's definitely worth visiting after dark if you can as the experience does go up a notch at night.
TLDR; Wildcat's Revenge is a must ride. If you can, get rides in multiple rows. If you only can choose one, seat 15 is a real winner and my personal favorite.

2023.06.02 06:01 AutoModerator What are the benefits and side effects of Ashwagandha?

What is ashwagandha?
The ashwagandha plant is one of the most powerful herbs. Various parts of the ashwagandha plant are used for medicinal purposes, with ashwagandha extract mainly being used in supplements. Ashwagandha is an adaptogen, a natural agent that reportedly helps the body cope with stress. As a result, it’s believed to be effective at helping reduce levels of the stress hormone, cortisol. It may also therefore potentially help with anxiety and depression too.
What does ashwagandha do?
Reduces Stress and Anxiety
Ashwagandha is known to help reduce stress and anxiety. One way it does this is by reducing levels of cortisol, a hormone that is released in response to stress. Additionally, ashwagandha has been shown to improve mood and cognitive function, both of which can be negatively affected by stress.
Enhances Cognitive Function
Ashwagandha has also been shown to improve cognitive function. One study showed that it improved memory and reaction time in healthy adults. Another study found that it improved task performance in people with ADHD. Additionally, ashwagandha may help prevent age-related cognitive decline.
Boosts Energy Levels
Ashwagandha has been shown to boost energy levels. One study showed that it increased stamina and reduced fatigue in people with chronic fatigue syndrome. Additionally, ashwagandha may help improve exercise performance.
Additionally, ashwagandha may also help improve sleep quality and reduce inflammation. These effects can all contribute to enhanced energy levels.
Regulates Blood Sugar Levels
Ashwagandha has been shown to help regulate blood sugar levels. One study showed that it improved insulin sensitivity in people with type II diabetes. Additionally, ashwagandha may help reduce fasting blood sugar levels and improve symptoms of diabetes.
Additionally, ashwagandha may also help lower cholesterol levels and protect against heart disease. These effects can also contribute to improved blood sugar control.
Lowers Blood Pressure
Ashwagandha has been shown to help lower blood pressure. One study showed that it improved blood pressure in people with hypertension. Additionally, ashwagandha may help reduce stress and anxiety, both of which can contribute to high blood pressure.
Is ashwagandha safe?
Ashwagandha is generally considered safe for most people. However, it can cause side effects such as stomach upset, diarrhea, and vomiting in some people. If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, it's best to avoid ashwagandha.
What happens when you take ashwagandha daily?
As a sleep aid, ashwagandha may help people get to sleep faster and stay asleep for longer. It is also used to promote male potency. Ashwagandha has a variety of health benefits, including reduced blood sugar levels, inflammation, mood, memory, stress and anxiety relief, as well as an increase in muscle strength and fertility. Depending on your requirements, dosages vary from 250 to 500 mg per day for at least one month.
When it comes to stress relief, ashwagandha may be as effective as some prescription medications. A 2010 study found that the herb was just as effective as lorazepam (Ativan) in reducing stress and anxiety. click the link below to learn more about abhwagandha, and its real health benefits.

2023.06.02 06:00 LucyAriaRose AITAH for breaking up my engagement because what my fiancé said about my mom?

I am not the Original Poster. That is u/ThrowRAmissjay. She posted in AITAH, (yes, that sub, not the other one,) and her own page.
Trigger Warnings: sex shaming, religious bigotry,
Mood Spoiler: a bleak look at society
Original Post: May 16, 2023
I (26F) am not from USA so I might have some grammatical errors. So, my dad left my mom and I when I was only 5 years old. I also have a brother (21M). He left the country with his mistress and never tried to contact. We were really poor. My mom had to do some immoral stuff to get food on the table. She was a stripper and also sometimes pleased men to get money for us. She put me and my brother through school. I understood why my mom did what she did because we had no money and she wanted us to have a life better than ours. And I am not ashamed because of it. I also started working part time when I was 14. I was a good student so I got a scholarship to a good university. My mom eventually stopped stripping when my brother got a part time job too. She now only works as a waitress.
I met my fiancé, Javi (27M) in college. This was my first serious relationship. We both loved each other. I never told Javi about my mom's past because my mom made me promise to never say that to anyone. I kept that but it felt so wrong to keep this huge information away from my fiance. Javi knew about us. He only knew that my family was extremely poor. He doesn't care about that. He is a very sweet guy who always takes care of me. He even covered some of the cost of my brother's education as well even though I told him not to. My mom also likes him, that's why she told me not to tell Javi anything about her past or what she did for a living. So, a week ago, my mom and I went to Javi's house to meet his parents. I didn't realize his uncle and aunt would also be there. Upon seeing his uncle my mom's face went white as if she saw a ghost. His uncle also kept staring my mom as if he knows her. My mom felt uncomfortable and said that she wants to go home. Javi was confused by it. But nonetheless we left earlier than we anticipated. The next day my fiance came to our place and shouted at me that I lied to him.
He said that I am a gold digger just like my mother, and my mother is the reason why his uncle's first marriage broke. I asked him to explain what the hell is he talking about. He said that his uncle knew my mom because he was a regular customer of her and often hired her for her services. His wife caught them red handed and immediately filed for divorce. My mom was crying and said that she didn't know he was married, she never asks men about their marital status. I told him that he has no right speak to my mom like that and his uncle was fully to blame because he was a married man who was hiring escorts for himself. My mom has no obligation towards his marriage. Javi still blamed me and mom and said that he felt deceived. He said to my face that he doesn't want to date a "whore's daughter" because I will probably invite men just like my mom. My mom had to beg him to not break the engagement. I am tired. If I do end up marrying him, my mom would always have to suffer because of it. I don't want that, so I gave him back his engagement ring and told him to never show his face. My mom is angry because she thinks this is my only chance to get married because no other guy would marry into a family where the mom works as a sex worker.
But I think I did the right thing because I am not ashamed of my mom, I didn't even wanted to hide it in the first place. I wanted to tell him the truth but my mom refused it. So, AITA?
Edit: I need to clear things out a bit. Javi knows everything about my life. He knows my dad fled the country and we had to live in poverty because of it. He knows my mom got pregnant way too young. I did give him hints that my mom had to do shady things to get by (he probably thought my mom stole things). But I didn't disclose that she was a sex worker. I wanted to tell him but my mom said not to because she doesn't want this to escalate. Also I never asked Javi to pay for my brother's education. He did it from the goodwill of his heart. I did promise to pay him back. I am not after his money. I do love him a lot. Even though we are broken up now, I still miss him. We have been together for 6 years. It is not easy to throw away those 6 years just like that.
Relevant Comments:
More about culture:
"I know that. And I understand why he is upset. Sex work is heavily criticized in my country to the point even doctors refuses to treat them. I understand his family's stigma especially his uncle was caught with my mom. So, they have a reason to hate her. I hoped that he would be a little bit understanding about our situation. If my mom didn't start working as a stripper, she would have never been able to send us school or college. I did love him a lot."
Can you and your mom go to therapy?
"It is hard to find a good therapist around our area. Yes, I have money now but my mom doesn't want to disclose her past because in the past she was denied care because of her profession."
More about the uncle:
"Everyone knows what the uncle did. I do not have to broadcast it. His uncle was a regular client of my mom. She knew him because he would often hire her and also because his wife slapped and beat her when she found her in his uncle's house."
Some people shame her mom for sleeping with married men as an escort:
"First off all, it is none of my mom's business to tell those men to stop hiring escorts. Do you know that more than half of the men who hire these sex workers are actually married? Are you really telling me that my mom is an asshole for not turning down 50% of those men? Do you know what that means? It means losing 50% of her income. Do you know what it's like to lose 50% of your income? If she refused those services then she would have never been able to keep a roof.
Secondly, it's their marriage. My mom is just a service working who provides her services to men who hire her. It is none of her job or business to snoop or tell those men not to cheat. It's that man's ugly character that cheats on his wife with an escort. By your logic a waitress shouldn't serve a married man food because only his wife gets to serve him food and no one else."
"Listen my mom was a sex worker. It was her job to offer services to anyone who is willing to pay. Even if she refused to do that, do you think that man who wanted an escort would stop? No, someone else would take that offer. It is not her responsibility to save a marriage that is already broken. She is a sex worker, not a marriage counselor. What she does is business. The man himself doesn't care about his marriage then why should my mom who is not romantically involved with any of them? You offered your judgements it is fine. But I must say your judgements are rather poor because you are blaming a poor woman who only did what she did to put food on our plate. Would you rather she loose more than 50% of her income than care about some random man's marriage that the man himself doesn't care? It is not my mom's job to provide loyalty. It is 100% on the man who hired an escort in the first place."
This sub doesn't give an overall judgement, but most of the comments were NTA
Update Post: May 26, 2023 (10 days later)
Hi everyone. I wanted to say thank you so much for your support. I never thought I would get so much support from strangers than people from my own community. I was however expecting a lot of hate towards my mom considering her profession but it is less than what I expected. I don't know if this qualifies as a proper update but there have been few changes. After I broke the engagement, I have been getting calls from my friends and Javi's family that I am making a huge mistake. My close friends know that my mom used to be a sex worker but mutual friends of mine and Javi does not know about it. So, they are also questioning me if I ever did that. Javi did apologize. He said he got carried away by his emotions and he loves me. Ngl, I love him too. I wanted to get past all of this. I know people have told me that I should not get married to this guy. But I was weak for a moment. Until he told me that he is willing to let things go and start anew if my mom does not attend any wedding functions. I was shocked.
Weddings are a big deal in our culture. There are many functions and parties surrounding the wedding. How can he ask that I do not involve my mom. He told me that because of my mom's past it would be difficult for his family members to be around her. He convinced his mom with difficulty about this engagement. Also since his uncle is going to be there, it will only remind him of bad things. At that moment I realized that I was never a consideration. It was always him and making his family happy. My family is beneath them because we are not from a respectable background and come from homes of sex workers. I stood firm and told him no, it is not going to happen. I will not give into their demands because the way I see it my mom did not do anything wrong. It is funny how quickly people will judge a woman based on her work, that she had to do to feed her kids but no one will come forward to help her in time of her need. Javi threatened that I am making a huge mistake by letting him go. I just left. I do not have the energy to deal with it. I think this news is spreading like wildfire now. I may have to move out of the city because if this news reaches to my workplace I know damn well people will ostracize me. So, I might look for job in a different area.
Lastly, I messaged him saying I am sorry for not telling him earlier about my mom but I loved him a lot. I am sad that he chose this topic to ruin a 6 year old relationship. I will be going to the bank and pay back the money he paid for my brother's education. I am still crying and jilted to say the least. Also, I saw that my post was shared in different religious groups bashing my mom. Saying that I deserved it. Well, let me tell you religious fanatics that most men who claim to be religious are not at all. My mom had many clients who claim to be religious including pastors and preachers. So please before blaming my mom look inside your house and your family. You might find chameleons hiding within your family too.
Edit: People who are asking why I am paying him back, it is because I don't want him to use it as an excuse to call me a gold digger who used him for his money. I don't want to be in his debt.
Relevant Comments:
Can you move elsewhere where people don't care?
"Thanks. I am encouraging my brother to apply for his masters abroad. Even if I missed the window he would be out of here. He won't have to face the scrutiny. And no sex work is legal in here but very much frowned upon especially in our town."
You made the right choice and someone else will be out there
"Thanks, but I wonder if anyone would ever be accepting of my life. Because if they do they might have to face insults and ridicule from the society. Who wants that? I just know even if it hurts, I cannot be with someone who was so disrespectful towards my family."
I truly wish OOP and her family the best. OOP seems like an amazing woman, and she was raised by an amazing woman.

2023.06.02 05:58 kissmaryjane goodbye fellow kids

I must leave you to join the rest of the 20 year olds. 10 minutes remain of my teenage years. It’s insane thinking back to the time I turned 13 and started this great journey of life. Honestly , 13-19 really does feel like a majority of my life. Life is fucking wild y’all. Don’t waste this shit. We’re young for now but oh too quickly will we be the elderly of the world, and new kids will be judging us. Hell you may not even live to see grey hair. It’s crazy to think about leaving this world for good…. You don’t have to know what you wanna do in life but doing nothing is not an option. Build upon something. Use time to build UP. It’s good to explore new areas but it’s a waste unless you compound time to accomplish incredible things. I’m not gonna bore you with any life lessons as I’m still learning them myself. But never stop growing . Ever. Always question yourself and beliefs, seek out new ideas and opposing opinions. Well I’m off to join the adults yall. I know we seem so grown up and aged , but really… every single adult is just a teenager in an old body. NOBODY has a clue what they’re doing , everyone just pretends to . We’re all figuring out how to live for the first time too. Peace y’all.

2023.06.02 05:51 Cheese_Monkey42 Took my 2020 Tacoma in for routine maintenance and a salesman called me right before my appt.

Said they wanted to buy my truck for a trade in. Normally I would have just said no, but I had time to kill anyways.
My Taco is 2020 TRD Off-road with all the bells and whistles. Leather, moonroof, technology package etc. Also it is paid off!
They said they were selling their Tacoma’s at “Invoice” so I figured I’d listen.
They were gonna give me 36k for a my truck (about 1-2k below KBB) and they didn’t have a 23 Taco on the lot that matched what mine has, so they couldn’t sell it to me at “Invoice” and priced it at 46k! Plus a bunch of other stuff they wanted to add on for a total of 48k.
I could have negotiated more maybe, but wasn’t worth my time.
I said no and I’ll wait for the 24 or 25 Tacos. Or just keep it for many years!
Anyone else have this experience. Not sure who would actually take them on this type of deal.
I thought I was being ripped off, am I wrong?

2023.06.02 05:51 emo_16 Convincing my derm to start accutane round 2

I had a moment in my gym parking lot today where I was taking some acne progress photos and the appearance of some large cysts on my cheek just broke me. My brain snapped and kept saying "you need to go on accutane again." My heart sunk a little as I recall it was quite the journey, but it gave me some hope in what feels like a hopeless time right now.
Accutane round 1 changed my life and I'm so glad I did it. But here I am again 9 years later with hormonal + cystic acne as a 26 year old. It is super disheartening as all the old feelings I once had about my skin have flooded back. I remember struggling to convince my derm to even prescribe me accutane and I'm afraid (I know) I'll have to do that again. I have tried every combination of acne medication under the sun, like I did prior to my first accutane run, and I'm at a point where I think it may be my only option again.
I am seeing a completely different dermatology office as I am on my own insurance plan now so does anyone have any good talking points to try and convince their derm to prescribe them accutane?

Acne history/context below if interested:
For some context I am a long time acne sufferer here as I've had acne since I was about 12 (now 26). I had cystic acne from ages 14-17. I went on every acne medication combination under sun and it was still chronic. I finally was able to convince my derm I needed to go on accutane and it honestly changed my life. Went on 20mg for 6 months and had clear skin at the end of it and in the years after decent skin with the usual hormonal breakouts (which sounds like an understatement but was the best skin I've had in years). Slowly but surely my acne crept back into my life and I went on the same combinations of acne meds with no results to show for it. I am wayyy healthier than I was when I first took accutane at 17. I gym 6 days a week and eat predominantly protein and veggies. I rarely drink as well. I do have a significant amount of stress from my career which probably contributes to the acne, but I do my best to manage it. At the current moment I have closed comedones and some huge hormonal breakouts on my cheeks as well as whiteheads. My skin hasn't looked this bad since I was 17.

We are Azure Infinitum
Visit us at: (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/)
You may have seen us in the Aether data center's party finder during our weekly events, or may have seen our recruitment shouts around the realm in-game in Midgardsormr, but there just isn't enough space in those places to really explain everything wonderful about what our Free Company and community is.
Azure Infinitum is an LGBTQ+ friendly community, and welcomes players of all experience level, play style, and availability. We're a warm home with a balance of online players, weekly optional activities, and flexible ranks from our membership, to our support & leadership categories. We have a 24/7 Support Team, a Councilship that governs each tier, seasonal events of our own, and many resources between the games we support and online services.
Who We Are
We are an established 9-year old community who's home is in Midgardsormr Server of Final Fantasy XIV. We are a structured, well-rounded, welcoming, friendly, and organized community that hosts daily events (check out our calendar: https://azureinfinitum.com/events/ ) that provide opportunity for members to excel. We work to provide an arena and opportunities to establish strong bonds and camaraderie between our members. As a community we are driven, we carry each other forward, and we are proud.
Our Name & Philosophy
Learn more about our global community here: (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/aboutus/)
Learn more about our FFXIV Free Company here: (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/ourffxivfc/)
Azure Infinitum means "Azure/Blue Infinity or Infinite Blue/Azure" and there is some mythos behind the name that stems from our guild-wide philosophy of kindness, freedom, vigilance, diversity and activity. We promote positive fellowship among members in an organized guild, with our sights open to our unending endless skies, full of possibility and success together.
Our motto is "As Free As The Azure Sky!" which stuck well when our FC was restructured from an old guild in 2014 as Azure was founded, and it was first shouted as we looked out at a clear blue sky above. has continued to be our electric victory as we continue to snowball in success and activity, our members soaring high through the Azure Sky, flying together!
Ranks
Click here to learn more about our community ranks: (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/ranks/)
Our community has an organized ranking structure beginning with Members who comprise the majority of the roster. Scouts are our support team of Members who've stepped up to more officially support the FC, some work on obtaining a future leadership rank. Lieutenants and Officers comprise the proud Azure Council, a diverse group of players of different specialties and services to the FC, making up lower and higher tier leadership, seeing over the Scouts and the FC weekly events, aside from being admins. The FC Infinitum Master oversees all and leads the Azure Council and the company forward while always keeping the heart and vision of the community alive and in sight. Currently we are re-assessing ranks in the free company, giving more support permissions and duties to our Scouts, while the current council operates as a small team of Lieutenants lead by the FC Master.
Everyone Welcome and Who Fits Best
We have an open door policy. Whether you're casual, a returning player, a veteran, or a newbie, we have a vast array of players in our member roster. Our weekly schedule is organized and provides an array of activity for players of most levels, however we like to ask players who're pretty new or under the level cap, to be extra vocal about their needs while they're still unable to attend some daily events or higher level content that most of our weekly lineup focuses on. We want everyone to have as much fun as possible and have the most success. We find that most players enjoy Azure Infinitum, many have stated that they subscribed to FFXIV much longer than they ever would have imagined after they have been around in our community, as they've gotten involved and experienced all that we offer.
Our FC keeps a daily schedule (see here: https://www.azureinfinitum.com/events/) of events that are hosted by permitted Scouts and Council ranks, these range from 8-man and 24-man raids and map parties, to WT journal groups and trial clear parties or farms, and more- and attending anything isn't mandatory at all here. We're happy to have you, and its up to our members how much they'd like to get involved. Attendance is optional! There's never any stress to attend FC functions.
Savage Raiding Statement
We find that some hardcore raiders looking for free companies just to join their statics who don't already have one, might not fit well if savage raiding is their only or greatest focus, because traditionally Azure does not have a Savage Static, but focuses more on allowing members to organize their own groups and also provides resources to do so. Despite not supporting an official static for the FC, we hope that hardcore raiders enjoy the wealth of our community's wealth of harmony and overall fun, and that everyone may take initiative to seek out or build a raiding static within our community if they are interested, as opposed to missing out on experiencing Azure. Depending on the content season, we may have an Unofficial static lead by a leader, and routinely offer limited time Savage-learning events that may run for a number of months.
Rules and No Drama Policy
Please take a moment to look over our Rules Page at (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/rules/), we find that rude individuals and people who create drama are the outsiders here that don't fit well. We know its a big page, so at least visit the General Rules section before joining.
Recruitment Care & Activity
People of Azure Infinitum are often if not always good natured players who found their way to our community looking for a place with structure, friendliness, organization, and great activity, or they've been scouted during recruitment drives and have been well screened. Its a place where one can be social and attend everything, or relax in the background and enjoy the services and facilities of being in an active, organized, and friendly FC. We actively recruit periodically to assist with upkeep of community activity levels, and to meet new comrades. A community that closes recruitment can be doomed to stagnation. Its normal for a community to have an inner core of die hards who log in daily regardless of content releases, and also have an outer core of individuals that range from those with less availability to those who check in during Patches. This is why we take extra care in keeping the fresh blood flowing into Azure, cautious recruitment, and support our active model by always staying welcoming and sometimes running recruitment campaigns and other services. Handling Online Drama
Because we keep a no-drama policy and have a strong communication network, it is leadership's ultimate priority to handle any issues that may come up as soon as possible, and most people appreciate our problem solving which has inspired many other communities. Between our Support & Leadership ranks, we use a number of report and resource channels to handle situations, and perform problem solving protocols & tactics to fairly address issues as possible. Drama is inevitable at some point for any online community, so its important to have a large and strong list of moderators (currently around 60!) and a council of leaders (15+) to quickly handle any problems. Luckily, we don't have a lot of drama, but we're always very well equipped and very prepared. Our community has been commended by game staff in the past for our methods, and we have worked with the FFXIV Special Task Force to ensure as much safety to our community as achievable. It should be stressed that it is up to our membership to report to GM's in-game, and to Azure Leadership should any issues or concerns come up. Its also highly recommended that our members appropriately document evidence that can be used to help us assess situations and make proper decisions. Documenation such as screenshots of harassment is a great example! Our members online safety is greatly important to us and is a number one concern of our leadership team. Our Rules Page at: (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/rules/) describes a bit more in Chapter 3, including other entries on avoiding/ignoring trolls, playing while intoxicated, depression, and more.
Our Philosophy
We believe in our community and its people, how far we can go, how much we can do for each other, being an experienced community who's core values are positive fellowship, formation of bonds, and indomitable unity.
Azure Infinitum tightly grasps success and masters a casual and lucrative weekly play schedule while inspiring motivation and providing avenues for further success, friendships, and camaraderie among all who freely fly together among our Azure skies.
Founding on the principles of intricately forging a generally drama-free experience with keen leadership and a zealous and mighty membership, Azure has striven to guide and support many hundreds of players through every era of Final Fantasy XIV.
With an illustrious history, company lore, impressive statistics, and a model that is adaptable and blessed with innovative ability, Azure Infinitum claims a dominant presence of excellence and player growth that is possible in our community and extended services.
Estate Organization
We have the entire set-up at our estate, from gardens for members and Krakka Root production (free for members' chocobos), to our stables, nicely uniform clean lawn with hangout spots that are popular, with crafting stations, all available NPCs for simple mats and repairs, cut-scene viewer, toybox, triple-triad board, a fully operational and geared fleet of airships and subs, and our Azure Infinitum Assembly Chamber on the top floor for our meetings where announcements are made at our Grand Assemblies. Check it out if you like at Mist Ward 7 Plot 1.
We also have an organized form of gathering for weekly events in the yard, places to relax, food that is always available on tables at our Cellar, and hold a lot of special events and social games at our Hall. We're also conveniently located next to a Market Board and a Retainer Bell outside of our estate.
Communication and Extended Azure Services
We have multiple services of which none are mandatory, but we provide being (azureinfinitum.com) where our Forums, Event Calendar, News, Company Meeting Summaries, Seasonal Merch Giveaways, Contests, Rules Page, and more take place and can be found. We also have a popular and active Discord Server.
We also have a Facebook Group, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, Steam Group, (Look us up! Or visit: (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/socialmedia/) and Linkshells like our Infinitum Alliance LS for contact and aid from our allies if needed, our Azure Hunters LS for Hunters, and our Azure Industry LS which connects our members to our inner crafting/gathering community for newbies to pros.
Also worthy of mention is our big Company Meetings in-game, known as Azure Infinitum Grand Assemblies. Even though we have several avenues that keep people connected, our live assemblies gather the FC in unity where announcements are made first, and all proposals, ideas, and more, can be decided together live with the Azure Council present.
This network ensures a lot of information and communication gets around and has been exceedingly useful to us.
More On Events
One part of our reputation that often precedes us is our event crafting and hosting.
First, let me make sure its clear that attendance is never mandatory, but those who can make use, when possible, of what we provide each day, benefit from our events each week.
Since our beginning, traditions like our Thursday Treasure Thursdays events have run each week. Our weekly line-up presently begins on Tuesdays post-weekly reset, and consists of Raid Tuesdays, Wondrous Wednesdays (WT Journal Parties, often doubles as Trial Clears and Pony Drops), Treasure Thursdays (Endwalker's timeworn maps with groups of 8 doing up to 3 rounds of maps allowing for up to 24 maps ran), 24-Man Tuesdays (full pre-formed Azure 24-member alliances are made and raids are cleared, will be returning upon the release of EW's 24-man), Super Azure Slayer Sunday (our weekly meetup to do all sorts of PVP content be it Rival Wings or Frontline), and Monstrous Mondays (helps clear the current and previous patch extreme trials).
Special, Seasonal, and Quarterly Events
More info here: (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/azureday/)See the latest event news & more at: (https://www.azureinfinitum.com/news/)
We also have what we call Special and Quarterly Events. These types of events are Weekend-Long-Events that usually consist of a theme or celebratory social events we craft. During these events we hold big Riddle Races, Costume/Glamour shows and contests, 3-Story Mansion Maze Races, Speedrun Dungeon Races, Hide and Seek games, Custom Quest Events, Discord events like Cards Against Humanity nights, Comedy events, PVP Tournament Circuits, and more.
Our Special and Quarterly events are Azure Day Weekend (Takes place 3 times a year across a weekend, celebrates the FC), Azure Summer Festival (3-days at the end of August in partnership with Child's Play, raises money for children in long-term care, anniversary of historic FC event called the Lunar Rebellion), Anniversary Azure Day (a big weekend event in November that celebrates our Founding), Azure Day Saint's Wake (celebrates Halloween/All Saint's Wake), Azure Starlight Day (celebrating Starlight Day/Christmas/December Holiday Season), Azure Grand Melee and Duel Tournaments (PVP Circuit series crowning our PVP Champions) and more.
Azure Day Weekends
If you've been around our server you may have heard of our Azure Day Weekends. Our Azure Days take place quarterly as mentioned just above, with four evolved editions called Azure Summer Festival, Azure Day Saint's Wake, Azure Starlight Day, and Anniversary Azure Day. With Azure Day Weekends and related events traditionally occuring quarterly our members are always excited to see the next big weekend of crazy and fun social games, and our showering of the free company in gil and prizes galore. We go all out when we celebrate the free company, and Azure Days are another way we find for leadership to give back to the community. 2023 and beyond is now host to additional seasonal Azure Day events!
We're always giving our members a chance to have fun, win big, and make some great memories in the in-game family we've become. Something fun is always on the horizon in Azure.
Community
I almost can't stress enough how friendly our community is. We have a vast variety of members from hardcore gatherers and crafters, social butterflies, chill veterans, experienced raiders, level grinders, support teams, PVP aficionados, mechanic specialists, and mentors. We're also very friendly to all casual players as well and we keep an open door so long as recruits are always aware that we have a no-drama tolerance here.
Evolution into a Gaming Clan & Network
Plans are in the works and foundations are being laid that is slowly turning our community into a larger gaming network, with our first established Azure Wing with regular occurring activity being founded in Monster Hunter World, this has led to a successful Destiny 2 clan and more. Becoming a member of our Discord and/or Free Company now means access to things like our huge discord, Azure Wing membership in other games, and being able to join in on any of our other activities in the general community. Azure Network as its being called at the moment, is growing with an all-new website and community features for playing together across Final Fantasy XIV and to Azure Skies beyond!
Activity
We rank high as one of the top FC's in Worldwide Activity on lodestone, and have for a long time. Most of our players are divided between the US East and West Coasts, members in East and West Canada, and a few outside the US or in EU or Aus zones. Because we do have an activity policy (mentioned below) we keep a standard flow of people, and have crowds in the early morning, late morning, early afternoon, afternoon, evening, and late night crowds.
Elitism isn't our style. Our community boasts a broad range of characters, great personalities, the proud, and also some silly goofs. But elitism isn't welcome, no matter how successful we are or how large we grow. We're always welcoming towards fresh faces interested in joining our guild, and the in-game activity ranges between 30-60+ online at once during prime time hours, sometimes around 70+ on patch days, and usually always with half the roster logging in throughout a 24 hour period, and around 15-30+ during the night.
Activity Policy
We ask that our members do not go missing without logging in for more than 60 days straight. If we hear word from someone or have some kind of decent excuse, we place our members on our On Vacation rank, which lasts presently until 90 days have passed. Exceptions are made for military deployments, hospital stays, financial issues, disability/health related issues, moving, or other reasons that might fall on a case-by-case basis.
All members not heard from in 60 days (roughly 2 months) or currently 90 days (roughly 3 months) are discharged. We allow 3 joins to Azure Infinitum in total, but exceptions can be made due to reasons listed above. If removed for inactivity, or you've left our FC for another reason and haven't already joined 3 times, you're always welcome back, but please remember, we are not a revolving door.
Keeping our roster full of members who have been online and presently play the game actively ensures an active environment for our players who play often. It also keeps our credits and clerical processes balanced across our network, and allows space for new faces to join our big happy in-game family of comrades.

2023.06.02 05:42 AnyGood821 Confused about first date

I went on a first date with a guy I met IRL. I'm 30f, he's 39m. He's in a band and I met him after watching a show he played. He actually came up to me after the show and started a conversation with me and my friend (nothing flirty, just genuinely good vibes and conversation because my friend and I rocked out super hard the whole night with them. I'm assuming that's why he came up to us, I'm not 100% sure).
He told me to add him on Facebook and I did because I thought what the hell. Met him on a Friday night so Saturday afternoon is when I added him. He immediately messaged me, asked what I was up to ect. We ended up talking the rest of that night. I went out again and he stayed home so I texted him when I could while I was at the bar off and on. He asked me to dinner that Saturday night, wanted to go to dinner tomorrow, Sunday afternoon. I said yes.
It's literally been probably 2 years since someone has asked me on a normal date like, to dinner so I was just excited someone asked me out. I hadn't met a guy I liked IRL since my ex that I also had met at a bar a couple years earlier. Took a break from online dating so this was the first actual date I had gone on. I also gained some extra weight due to medication I had been on, and when he asked me out I had probably lost 18 pounds at this point so it made me feel pretty good about myself. (I've lost 25 pounds as of today.) I figured the extra weight was the reason guys hadn't been asking me out in person because if I'll be honest I got asked out pretty regularly when I weighed a little bit less so it kinda reassured me that I looked halfway decent now.
Dinner was great. Conversation flowed. He paid. I'll admit I took a shot before I showed up because I was that nervous (I feel like I'm very awkward when I like someone and I wanted to ease the tension I felt.) we ate and ordered margs. We got pretty buzzed off those but neither of us were drunk. We had awesome talks and laughs and I felt a genuine connection with him. Someone walked into the restaurant and knew him (from the band, they are pretty well known) and he introduced me. I felt really happy.
He invited me back to his house to hang out more and watch a movie or something. I was honestly so excited he asked me because I wanted to talk more and the resturant was about to close (it was a Sunday) so going to his house was easier, he lived a mile away and I lived about 20 mins from there.
To make a long story short when we got back to his house the vibes kept going. We were both still buzzed when we got back there but the buzz went away probably halfway through and this is where idk if I messed up.
Stuff ended up happening. Neither of us were buzzed at all anymore, like all of it happened when we were completely stone cold sober. I was a little nervous because Im always worried I'll be awkward and I wasn't buzzed anymore so I wasn't super "care free." I definitely wanted to though, it was nothing he pressured me into. We kissed and then it led to other things. We didn't have sex. I was at his house for probably another 3 hours and I didn't feel weird after we did stuff or anything. He acted the same to me. Later on he said he was super tired and wanted to get to bed soon (I definitely believed him, he had worked at 7:30am that day after sleeping for only 2 hours).
I ended up leaving about 30 mins after he said that. He texted me the next morning saying he didn't sleep well again. For the next 3 days we texted as normal even though he was being pretty dry. But he texted back immediately so I thought maybe he was just a bad texter. He didn't say anything about seeing me again, or wasn't being flirty but I tried not to overreact. I figured maybe he was busy with his son or maybe due to the age difference our texting styles were different and I didn't want to read too much into it.
He wished me happy birthday on Thursday (I turned 30). I thanked him and he was being pretty dry as he had been the whole week. But I felt like if he didn't actually like me he wouldn't be texting me.
I decided to take the initiative since he had made all the moves so far. I texted him later that night on my birthday and said "just wanted you to know I had a really good time on Sunday. We should definitely do it again soon." I waited for a text back and NOTHING. I have not heard a word from him since.
It's been a week since texting him that and dead silence. He hasn't removed me from Facebook and he watches my stories. I don't think I said anything wrong. Im not sure what happened because nothing bad happened and he acted like he liked me. So why would that one text to him make him never talk to me again? And if uninterested why not just delete me on Facebook and not watch my stories?
I started to think maybe he is a player and that's why. But I have seen his band many times over the years and never does he have tons of girls around at his shows. His Facebook is completely full of his son only. No girls commenting or liking his pictures. He has been divorced for 10 years so he's not fresh out of a relationship. I asked him if he does this kind of thing all the time (asking a girl out at a show and "hooking up" with them), he told me he literally had never done that and I have no reason not to believe him. He does not seem like the kind of guy to be a player, he genuinely gives off just good friendly vibes. I honestly didn't know he was even interested in me until he asked me to dinner.
So I don't really know why things went south. They only did after I sent him that "risky" message just trying to let him know that I enjoyed his company. Before that I was getting regular texts.
So in your opinion, what do you think happened? This has really bummed me out and made me nervous to go out with any other guys because I feel like everyone is going to reject me as this guy did. I want to let this roll off my back and it's so hard because I genuinely liked him and don't know why he rejected me.
TL;DR: had a great first date with a guy I met IRL. When we talked after the date I sent a text saying I had a good time and suggested we get together again and he hasn't talked to me since.

2023.06.02 05:39 Kroftyy I just finished watching The Challenge: All Stars for the first time. Here are some of my thoughts!

Hey all,
So that has to be a record for me I think - I finished and posted about Double Agents less than 2 days ago, and am now here with my All Stars post. That should give you a good indication of what I thought about this season. Lets’ discuss!
Disclaimer: At this stage I have only seen seasons 5-36 of The Challenge, plus the VS spinoffs, and AS1. Please refrain from spoiling any other seasons, or returning players. Thanks :)
TL;DR Summary
All Stars is a love letter to the old-school Challenge. OG cast members are brought back and inject new life into the show, falling back into familiar roles, or in some cases, showing tremendous growth and maturity. This season SLAPS, and is a return to form in many ways. Dailies and eliminations are honed back to simple, yet effective, much like we saw around The Duel era. Gone is the over-production of the mainline season, instead showcasing fun and entertainment. The cast brings it across the board, fantastic characters, loveable moments and inspiring growth. The entire vibe of the season is a throwback, with 80s-00s music, a house that calls back to old-school moments, familiar formats and challenges, and of course, the old-school cast. The season is capped off with a genuinely fun and tough final which was a joy to watch, and whilst the season isn’t perfect due to a one-winner final, and it feeling a little short, it’s an A-Tier through and through.
The Good
The Not So Good
The format
The format this simple is so simple and it’s fantastic.
This season is essentially an individual game, with some dailies performed in pairs/teams depending on the episode. The usual daily/elimination structure remains, with all contestants participating in a daily challenge each episode. Each day is either a male or female elimination day. Depending on the day, the top and bottom performing male/female earn immunity or a direct ticket into elimination (LOVEEEEE seeing daily losers going straight into elimination). Their opponent is then chosen by majority vote in the cast, although much of the time people end up self-nominating this season.
For the first half of the season the ‘additional twist’ is the lifesaver - a twist we haven’t seen in a long, long time. The top performing alternate gender from the daily gets access to the lifesaver, and can use it to save the nominated/voted contestant from going into the elimination. It’s only used once, and when it is, involves a majority re-vote on the spot to find the new contender.
For the second half of the season, the lifesaver is dropped and the individual eliminations turn into double eliminations. The bottom performing male AND female are made a pair and go straight into elimination. The top performing male/female get immunity. The house still continues to majority vote the opponent, but only vote for one person. That person then gets free choice from the whole cast on who they want as a partner, for the elimination. This was a little clunky and unfair I thought. Probably the weakest part of the format, and robbed Kendal from a final spot.
Overall though, I enjoyed the down-to-earth feeling of this format. It was simple. No ‘security breaches’, no ‘kill cards’ (as much as I love that twist) - just straightforward. It’s a perfect match to the OG feel of this season.
The cast
The cast this season is mostly fantastic. You can all tell that are having such a great time being there. We get contestants falling into familiar moulds, contestants who have grown and changed, and most importantly, contestants that want to win.
Yes: This is my first true exposure to Yes as a contestant. I previously saw him in Battle of the Seasons where he was first boot, and for a few episodes in Sexes 1, but I couldn’t tell you a thing about him from that season. This one showing has made me a huge Yes fan though. I love his attitude, and his positivity, I love his approach to the game, and I think he put in a powerhouse performance in that final, playing not only harder, but smarter as well. I was definitely rooting for him (among pretty much everyone in that final LOL) and was glad that we got a brand new Champ this season. Congrats to Yes and hope to see lots more of him - also him calling out the ‘punks on those other shows’ is iconic.
Jonna: Jonna was absolutely fantastic this season. I LOVE the maturity and grace that she has come back to The Challenge with. The Jonna we had previously known was much younger, much more fiery and immature, and going through a bit of a rough patch in her life (including getting partnered with Zach). This new and improved Jonna was a delight to watch. She’s a mom now, and come onto the show a mere 7 months post-partum, and she does FANTASTIC. I think she was such a likeable and enjoyable presence all season long, and then went on to perform so well, unexpectedly, in that final. I cannot wait to hopefully see her back on AS2 - I truly think she could smash it.
Darrell: This might be one of my favourite Darrell seasons ever. After he was robbed of all airtime on Double Agents, we get huge exposure to Darrell this season, with him being one of the main narrators and confessionalists. He is in prime form when it comes to his comedy this season. I don’t know if it was cause he could swear, or what, but he was more hilarious than ever before. I have a ridiculous number of quotes from him that I want to call out below. Great, strong performance throughout, and was the second TRUE threat to win in that final, alongside Yes. Loved their friendly rivalry, and whilst I’m happy Yes won… I was rooting even harder for Darrell. So close!! I hope he gets more time on the All Stars show because it really suited him.
KellyAnne: Those that have followed along with my posts will know I’m a massive fan of KellyAnne, and so I was extremely happy to see her cast this season. It’s been way too long. It’s probably not one of her most memorable seasons, she plays a pretty low-key game and doesn’t have a huge amount of screen-time, or memorable moments, but I loved watching her make another final and essentially ‘winning’ for the girls side alongside Jonna. The two of them 100% deserved at least some prize money, and should have received a title.
Mark: Mark is one of the challengers this season that hasn’t changed a bit, for better or worse. Mark has always been an interesting character to me - he’s obviously prolific for being a S1 Road Ruler, a big part of early challenge seasons, and producing All Stars (idk when I found this out, but I know he had something to do with it), but aside from that, and having no personal attachment to those things, I don’t always find him genuinely entertaining or fun. He tries really hard for the camera this season, and really plays up his role as the ‘godfather’, which comes across as a little cringe and overdone at times. He’s ridiculously in-shape though, and I’d be surprised if he didn’t win an AS season.
Jemmye: Jemmye is the one person on this cast I was a bit shocked to see. Almost like, Faith on the US team in WotW1 levels of shocked. She feels a little out of place in this cast, which is a little strange because she debuted at a similar time to Jonna, but Jonna feels like a better fit. Perhaps because Jemmye continued to be quite prominent on the main show up until quite recently. With that out of the way, I think she was fine throughout the season. Alongside Darrell, I’d bet she had one of the highest confessional counts all season, and I have always appreciated her narration capabilities so I think that’s completely fine. I also think she performed unexpectedly well at times, both at certain stages in the final and at some dailies.
Alton: Alton is someone I predicted on this season but didn’t genuinely expect to see, so I was surprised to see him here after his experience on Bots2. I can tell this season was a much better fit for him though, with much of the youthful partying and drama gone. I think he was a pretty good contestant this season. He still has a little of that trademark arrogance and doesn’t always come across the best, but he’s a fantastic partner to the everyone in the final, even whilst taking Aneesa’s yelling, and always remains a good sport. I also loved how he picked Aneesa to come into elimination with him, giving her some respect, and surprising her at the same time. I also loved the little Syrus and Alton drama and hope we get to see it continue in AS2.
Ruthie: Loved seeing Ruthie back as well this season - it’s been a huge amount of time since seeing her. A very, VERY low-key season for her overall though. I was a bit disappointed to never see too much from her, especially because I remember her for her powerhouse performances in those early seasons (especially that line-drop challenge challenge, forget its name). She remains fun throughout though, and I loved when she called out Aneesa, but she ends up performing surprisingly poorly in the final, at least compared to my expectations. If she gets to come back on another season I’d love to see the edit showcase her a bit more.
Big Easy: Much like Mark, Big Easy is a contestant who has not changed at all. He still has this weirdly misplaced arrogance and attitude that makes him comes across extremely poorly at times. I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for him, because he debuted in my first season and continued to have a storyline over the few after that, but I can’t really excuse how he talks to some people, particularly in the final. Also, how he tried to convince Jemmye to quit the food portion so he could quit too. Saying that, he has some good moments this season as well. He has some surprising puzzle performances, one quote in particular which rocked me and had me dying, and I appreciated his storyline of ‘finishing a final’, and that he was able to accomplish that.
Aneesa: This feels like a MUCH better spot for Aneesa to stay as opposed to the main challenge. I actually thought she was quite likeable again this season (after thinking so on DA too), albeit it seemed she was having even more fun here. Yes, we get the EXACT SAME STORY as the main show ‘I get booted before the final every time, I can never win, this is my season’, which is old and a bit dry, but she had a few moments which I found quite sweet - her reaction to getting picked by Alton as a preferred partner into elimination. Her reaction to making the final, etc. She’s never going to win, and has to drop that thought (and those confessionals), but I didn’t mind her this time.
SIDENOTE: I can’t believe I’m STILL talking about finalists. Pretty crazy that half the cast makes the final.
Derrick: Has Derrick always been this cringe? I think he might be my least favourite contestant this season, without a doubt. The whole season is just him being a bit of a cartoon character and playing up to the camera, or sucking up to Mark. It’s not a great look and not really how I remembered Derrick from way back. Hopefully it’s a one-off and he comes back with a bit more maturity, but was really not a fan of his at all this seaosn.
Jisela: Jisela was another contestant I didn’t really remember. And I went on a bit of a rollercoaster with her this season. I initially adored her after that first episode - coming in as a bit of an underdog and putting in a fantastic, gutsy performance at the first challenge to prove herself. I think she had a really nice storyline there. Over the course of the season I soured a little though. She had a whole bunch of seemingly misplaced anger towards to Kendal which I didn’t appreciate, but also a weird and uncalled for reaction to Aneesa ‘not giving her her first choice’ into elimination, ending their friendship over it?!? Did the cameras not show something here? She’s quite funny though, has a bubbly personality and some good confessionals.
Nehemiah: Is dead to me after pulling Kendal into her THIRD elimination and sending her home before the final. Up until that point I was really enjoying his return. His win against Teck was solid, and he was injecting a little bit of drama into the house. I’ve always enjoyed his personality and think he speaks well and is able to tell a story. Bummed that his season ended with the aforementioned Kendal thing though as it has soured me on him a little, especially when he was the number one person saying ‘new people should go into eliminations’ - a bit hypocritical.
Kendal: I couldn’t tell you a thing about Kendal from Inferno, but I adored her this season. She was an underdog from the get-go, with the entire house hating on her non-stop (do we have details on why this is btw?). That automatically endeared me to her, who doesn’t love an underdog story, but she went on to be a solid competitor. She wins two eliminations, both of which aren’t super easy, and goes in a THIRD time in a season with only six eliminations. She’s good at dailies as well, and has a really enjoyable, down to earth personality. I love how real she feels, which is actually a bit of a theme this season, aside from a few exceptions in the cast. Completely robbed, deserved a place in that final. Hope she’s back for AS2.
Laterrian: Laterrian went from being an absolute nobody to me, to one of my favourites coming out of this season. I loved everything about him. His drive, his determination, his fleeting aggression, his need to win no matter what. He’s such a real friend to those in the house, speaking up for and supporting Syrus with the Alton altercation, and then being the ONLY person to happily throw their name in the ring to be Katie’s partner - so much humility and grace in how he handled that situation and resulting loss. He also had a fantastic showing against Ace and in the mini-final. I think Laterrian has turned into a serious winning threat.
Katie: I’m a massive Katie fan and continued to love her this season. She’s just fantastic. You can tell she has definitely matured and grown as a person, and she’s often biting her tongue, but we still get so many memorable moments from her - the many times she had to fall from heights and flashed back to Cutthroat, her fight with Trishelle, and her trademark dry humour. Katie is probably someone I don’t expect to see on AS2. She seems like she enjoyed herself this season but is maybe happy with where her story is at, and whilst I love her, I have to agree. She’s had a good run and this is a great season for her to end with, if that is the case. Quotes from her below for sure.
Syrus: Really enjoyed Syrus this season. I don’t remember a huge amount from him, even though I HAVE seen him on a few seasons, but despite being an earlier boot he’s memorable here. I loved his relationship with Beth, really appreciated his drive to win, and loved the little rivalry he developed against Alton. He got SO unlucky with his injured leg, and then heading into an elimination which involved landing on said leg. Regardless I loved that his ego got in the way and he called out Alton for that elimination when he could have had anyone else. Was a great storyline, hope to see him on AS2-3.
Beth: Beth came back this season to prove she’s matured, I think. I always hated Beth on the show, I could never enjoy her and just found her grating and annoying. But she’ so different this season, and I think accomplishes a lot in improving my view on her. She’s more mature, she’s likeable, and she avoids all the drama and crap she used to stir up in the past. I loved seeing glimpses of her family, and think she got a little screwed with the sudden shift to double eliminations. Much like Katie I could see this being her only AS appearance with a young family at home, but we’ll see. If it is, it’s a great place to leave things. Loved her humility in defeat, and how that was juxtaposed to Syrus’ swearing and anger. She clearly had a great time this season.
Teck: My first season seeing Teck, I believe. The only person on this cast that I’d never seen before (even though I didn’t remember a few others). I could not get enough of him. Teck is absolutely hilarious. He’s fantastic at confessionals, such a shit-stirrer and so entertaining. He put in a genuinely strong elimination performance against Neh, coming THIS close to taking that win. A bit of a quote machine in his short time on this season, very reminiscent of Darrell, and gone way too soon. Because he hasn’t done ANY seasons I’ve seen, I expect he may be one and done with AS1, but I hope I’m wrong and he is back again!
Arissa: Arissa has a crazy few episodes on this season. She turns from hippie, chilled, weed-food lady who prays to the sun into this swearing, loud quitter in the span of one episode and it’s ridiculously memorable and fun. She’s a great early boot.
Ace: I actually feel so bad for Ace. He’s never performed that well on the show, but my heart just broke for him this season. He seems like such a pure soul. Loved how he didn’t even want the money for himself, but to donate, and how he said he missed his dog. So sadddd and was absolutely brutalised by LT in that elimination.
Trishelle: omfg Trishelle has not changed at ALL. She had me in the first half though, not gonna lie. She starts off so strong, with an apology to Aneesa for what happened on Rivals 2, but that quickly devolves into CRAZINESS when she unleashes on Katie for ‘not coming right up to her’, which in turn sets Katie off briefly. She’s promptly sent into elimination, and looses with humility, taking her trademark brand of insanity home with her. A short stint, but so in-character.
The challenges
The dailies
Dailies were so different to what we’ve grown used to on the main show. They are so much more simple and low-key, no explosions or over-production, and it work so well. It’s such a return to form imo.
The eliminations
Eliminations are closer to what we’ve seen on the main show, but it’s a curated choice of games, all of which are interesting and fun to watch played.
The final
This final was really special to me. I haven’t enjoyed a final so much in so long.
Everyone involved was having the best time, and they were all so supportive and uplifting to eachother. Everyone was a fantastic partner, outside of Big Easy - Alton, Yes, Darrell and Mark all showcasing how to treat and support your partner. Everyone is keen for the win and trying their hardest.
I’m usually not a fan of staged finals but the approach taken here was fantastic and kept things really fair. Instead of stages being timed, and leading to an arbitrary advantage at the next stage, all stages were scored with points, 5/4/3/2/1 depending on placements. The entire first day was ran in duos, with partners rotating between every stage. I was initially thinking this was an insanely smart way to make a one-winner final fair. Day 2 goes onto ruin this, but Day 1 is incredibly smart in keeping things even. There’s a bunch of running, swimming and cycling through beautiful jungle and waterways, with stages between involving eating, assembling bicycles, puzzles, and the overnight endurance portion.
Day 2 is a straightforward long race up a mountain, and at this point the final becomes completely individual, ensuring a male would take home the crown - this is annoying, and my least favourite part of the final. Points from Day 1 STILL MATTERED though.
Overall, despite one-winner, it’s still a fantastic final and one I really enjoyed watching.
Random remaining thoughts from throughout the season
Conclusion
So yeah, I bloody loved this season. I had so much fun and was smiling from ear to ear all season long. It’s such a great love letter to the show, and I’m beyond excited for AS2 and AS3, if they are more of the same. A great cast, good challenges, a good final, amazing music and uncensored swearing, and a cool new winner. Slightly marred by the one winner final and some other nitpicks, but it’s an A-Tier season. SO MUCH FUN.
Next up will unfortunately be S37, even though I badly want to skip straight to AS2. I’m staying chronological! So check below for my predictions for the next season, and please let me know your thoughts on this season!
Rankings
This will be ranked quite high. Perhaps too high, but I had too much fun with it. It’s holding a special place for me at the moment. It’s possible it drops slightly over time, with less recency bias.

2023.06.02 05:28 TSMCAZ TSMC Abuses Their Employees!

It's ironic that in this day and age with the internet so accessible and social media holding so much significance over everything everyone does, that corporate america (or should i say corporate taiwan) still thinks it's ok to condemn workplace abuse (emotionally & physically). Me being naive running to HR for help but HR going directly to my supervisors and ganging up on me. Oh how silly, I guess they didn't realize who they just made their public enemy #1. Where should I even begin? Wow the endless possibilities I have here huh well I guess lets just start rocking the boat by talking about how OSHA is a gimmick and why even exist when everyone working in TSMC Arizona are in a office with unsafe working conditions every single day yet when reported to OSHA they do absolutely nothing about it. Let me put into words for you since I can't share with you any pictures. Imagine working in a office that isn't even nearly remote close to being completed and their is so much construction going on everyday you literally are either inhaling silica dust or hear drilling sounds pierced in your ears, vibrations under your foot for 12 hours on end. TSMC when first beginning their Arizona project had rented temporary office spaces that were only allowed a maximum amount of occupancy on each floor they rented but do you think they even cared about that? Nope, everyday the temp. offices were crammed so full that people were practically sitting on top of each other and shoved into random spaces not even real legal office spaces just empty areas that upper management decided "Yeah ok, that works lets just shove them there." Later on mid march when the official TSMC AZ offices announced they would start moving people in everyone was so stoked, thinking we would finally get proper office spaces, our own seating real lunchrooms accessible bathroom etc everything + anything a real billion dollar company office should have. Instead to our disappointment we were left with no running water, bathrooms that can flush but you can not wash your hands, sinks and water fountains that dispensed brown water when you tried using them every other month we have notices of water stopping to not use the bathroom and bring our own water.......12 HOUR SHIFTS WITH NO BATHROOM? In the middle of the desert? How on earth is this ethical. Not to mention the office is either burning hot like the desert air or freezing like alaska and when we asked for something to be done upper management just replied "Wear bigger jackets" So you had hundreds of employees sitting in a below freezing office 12 hours a day with heavy thick winter coats IN THE MIDDLE OF APRIL IN ARIZONA??? I was amazed anyone in Arizona owned winter coats. I literally got sick 4 times back to back working in that condition, I was so cold one time my fingers froze and stiffened up so bad I couldn't type anymore I had to keep rubbing them together inside my jacket until they warmed up enough to continue working. Look what I am trying to say is that a lot is happening inside TSMC Arizona that so many people do not hear or know about so I will gladly be the one to update you all because I want change I want a safe work environment for me and my colleagues I want TSMC to take accountability and until they do I want to be the one to expose what they're really like, what is really happening behind closed doors. Here below is a brief update list of all the that has happened from the day they allowed employees to work inside the official F21 site.
- on a daily tsmc spends about $300,000 to their contractors and vendors like ABM who are hired to work on site to help with this project but what tsmc themselves don't even know is that lately we have been having evacuations almost every week sometimes even as far as twice a week but they're not even real evacuations concerns! they are occuring because ABM workers have gotten smart and realized if they blow the emergency airhorn it will create a chaos and we have to evacuate the whole entire building for about an hour each time because there are like hundreds and hundreds of workers everywhere on each floor so it takes so long for everyone to get out safely and by the time the entire evacuation is over they come back its lunch time and then boom at 2 they go home. not only has this been happening so often but on top of that people started paying people to take turns blowing the horn and standing guard so they don't get caught.
- ABM workers are being paid to do nothing literally every day. When walking on the construction site you have no idea how many people I see sitting by the door just napping or staring at the floor. We have to wear shoe covers in some parts of the building and there was 3 workers handing out shoes covers....3 WORKERS - literally just handing out one shoe cover. It does not take 3 people to complete this task. Sometimes i ask them what they were assigned to do and they said to just stand there in the hallway literally thats it, stand.
- One day my coworker took the elevator with some people and when the elevator reached the 4th floor the cable snapped and dropped to the 1st floor. He then was stuck in there for 40 mins because nobody could find out why or get the doors opened. But then when opened he told me they hurried him away, said they would pay him for the rest of the working day but to go home immediately. I didn't even hear about this until he had to tell me himself. TSMC could've done the right thing and issued out a warning to not use the elevator for the time being until deemed safe again but instead they shoved money into the problem and hid it from all of us working there.
- the FABs where the semiconductor chips are being made sometimes have areas where there are open holes or flooring that were not properly placed yet but because as always tsmc prioritizes money not safety they rushed engineers to go inside and start working immediately and one day one of the engineers fell into these holes. Luckily he is fine! But it really could've been a lot worse
- Contractors working in these FABS are not near or have any drinking water accessible to them all day while working inside but the temperatures in these places sometimes go as high as 90 degrees inside because there is no working electricity so there is no proper airflow or windows so they are literally being suffocated in these confined covered spaces and have to wear cleanroom suites so they are so hot and humid too.
- there are no bathrooms in these places so we have found many water bottles full of pee lying around inside the FABs on top of that they were now being tossed and moved around so much when i was driving to work last week i saw a water bottle filled with yellow liquid sitting in the parking space under the hot desert sun
- the fbi had to be called in because we had one week where there was 3 fires and the police questioned that these fires were starting to be intentional and someone was risking everyones life by starting real fires on site
- a angry worker had a fight with one of the taiwanese worker that had just flown in from taiwan and that american grabbed a steel pipe and hit the taiwanese assignee over the head and he was sent to the hospital. Yet again we were not made aware of this situation and tsmc tried to hide it keep it hush hush to protect themselves not protect us
- are you ready for this one?
an employee last week brought a real PISTOL INTO tsmc. INTO. FOR 12 HOURS.... there was an active gun inside this building and the worst part of this all was that we have a whole x-ray machine + metal detectors 8 security guards working in the front more security inside the building and this employee managed to carry a whole gun inside TSMC Arizona he managed to get a whole gun inside past the metal detectors past the x-ray machines PAST the security guards who also scan you up and down when you walk inside. Now this is all made to public eye because he had gotten caught can you even imagine the employees who haven't gotten caught? If he was able to so easily bring a gun inside tsmc az then who's to say he was the first or will be the last? Who's to say there hasn't already been more or others.
Every day i go to work i feel constantly scared because they recently torn apart the ceilings above our heads so all the mechanical work the wirings the cables they all are hanging and dangling from above and i just feel like one day one of it is going to either fall or hurt me or my colleagues. Now i have to worry about my actual safety as well because they're just letting anyone bring anything up inside here. Make matters worse whats the point of all the security when TSMC Az has no security cameras working or on? They are literally all just for show the security cameras you see they are not being of use right now they don't work. Everyday our personal belongings are being stolen TSMC projectors that cost thousands of dollars are being stolen from meeting rooms, workers sneaking past wire cutters to this point where we locked our projectors to a cable and that cable is being cut and things still get stole. Anyways thats all i have for now, for today at least. Don't worry I will definitely be back even if nobody reads this i will continue to shout from the top of my lungs
GET REAL....TSMC AZ

2023.06.02 05:28 Mjb7593 Learning about bio-dad

my first time posting here so I'm just wanting advice. I am 47F and I have known since i was a teenager that my Dad is not my bio dad. My mom got pregnant in college and (from what i understand) my bio dad didn't want anything to do with me. She started dating another guy and with the urgency of the situation they got married in a hurry. It did not last very long {3 years} but his name was on the birth cert and he didn't want anyone to know that i wasn't his. He still treated me as his own, but we lived several hours away so didn't have a super close relationship but i enjoyed the time i spent with him.
Eventually he remarried and had 2 more children. i still went and stayed on school breaks and summers. my step-mom pretty much just treated me like a built in babysitter, which wasn't different from my normal because my mother had 2 younger kids that i did the same for.
I'm assuming at some point that stepmom found out that i wasn't biologically his and pretty much made him choose between us or them. I was 12 or 13 so Im not really sure how it went down but my mom refused to tell me the truth at first and just said that my dad loved his new family more and didn't want anything to do with me. i was devastated and couldn't understand why none of my aunts or grandparents would talk to me and i was completely shut out.
A year later the truth came out and my mom just randomly introduced me to a cowboy at a rodeo and said he was my real dad (with about 10 other people standing around) I was mortified and ran off. I didn't know if it was a joke or what. I found out later it wasn't, but he still had no interest in being in my life so another slap in the face. I also had to run into this man on occasion and found out that so many people knew and never told me.
At that time he was married with 2 sons, He is divorced now and I have had contact with one of the sons but have not met in person. He was very nice and believed everything I told him. He even asked my dad and he didn't deny it.
The man that raised me also got a divorce after several years and tried and tried to make amends with me, but i wouldn't for a long time because I was just so hurt that he could turn his back on me like that. We finally started working on our relationship about 10 years ago and its been hard but he is a good man and I know he regrets how things played out and he didn't know what my mom had said to me.
As for my bio-dad, i have had to call him twice in my whole life because of needing medical background info and he has been rude both times. My children are grown now and we were at a rodeo he was at and they asked if they could go meet me him. i reluctantly said yes because i didn't want them to think i was the bad guy keeping them from him. He literally turned around and said "I know who you are" he stuck his hand out and shook their hands and walked off.
I really don't have any family left other than my children and I'm just at a point I don't know what to do. I haven't really ever felt the urge to have a relationship with him but i'm not in great health and he is getting up there in age and for some reason I just keep wondering if I should even try. He is not wealthy, but he does live a descent life, I'm not saying I am money hungry, but he has never done anything for me in my life and I do feel like he owes me something. Maybe I feel that way because we were very poor growing up and I did without and I had my first job when i was 12 just to help with bills and I just never thought it was fair especially when I seen how his kids grew up and the opportunities they had.
I am wrong for feeling this way?? I honestly want to sue him for never contributing to anything in my life. Is that wrong? I am doing ok now, but i struggled for so long because I couldn't afford to go to college, I was living on my own since I was 17 because my mom couldn't afford for me to live at home.
Just to clarify, my dad that raised me didn't pay child support since he wasn't my real dad and my mom married an alcoholic afterwards that made our life a living hell, but thats a whole other story,

2023.06.02 05:24 tinynausea Overwhelmed New Legal Assistant Seeking Advice

I've been working as a legal assistant at a small employment law firm for three months now, and things have become increasingly chaotic. When I started, there were three other legal assistants and a single attorney running the show. Recently, one of the assistants left (after three months), leaving me with a significant part of their caseload. Despite my attorney interviewing replacements, no one has been hired yet. To make matters worse, my attorney is about to dive into a big trial, so hiring is going to be delayed.
Between the surge of new cases and those I inherited, I feel like I'm drowning in work. Our remaining legal assistant and my team lead are just as swamped, so there's no relief in sight. On top of that, communication from our attorney is practically nonexistent. Given that he has about 60 active cases and receives a constant barrage of emails, he usually responds at the last minute or dumps a pile of work on us all at once.
I've been put in charge of communicating with opposing counsel on behalf of my attorney. While he does reply directly sometimes, most of the back-and-forth falls to me. It's an odd situation and makes me feel overly responsible for decisions that really should be made by my attorney.
I've also been working remotely since I started and have never met my coworkers or boss in person. I never signed an employment contract (we agreed to my hourly rate and starting date over email), and I don't even have my own work email, just a generic firm one. I was never informed of my benefits, time-off policies or anything like that. (For example, I had to ask my lead whether we had Memorial Day off.)
The thing is, I do genuinely enjoy what I'm doing. But the huge workload and lack of support is definitely taking its toll. I want to stick around for at least six months to a year so I have enough experience to apply for other positions, but I'm worried things aren't going to improve; they certainly aren't sustainable right now.
I'm curious to know if anyone else has dealt with a similar situation and how they handled it.
Thanks.

2023.06.02 05:24 happy_but_maybe_sad Seizure

Please offer some reassurance …
My just turned 3 year old labradoodle, who’s the best boy in the world, just had his first seizure. His breeder witnessed it, as I am not in town. States it lasted 5mins. He’s otherwise healthy other than a sensitive stomach and has never had any problems. No family history of seizures. He had his wellness check a month ago and was deemed healthy. He received a rattlesnake snake antivenin booster and the bordetella shot at that visit. He takes no medications other than ivermectin.
I had a boxer previously who developed seizures at 9 and it turned out to be a brain tumor. I’m terrified of this since I have this past trauma.
He’s doing fine now per breeder. Acting normal, happy, and went out for a walk.
Going to pray he does fine tonight and try to figure it out in the morning. Reality is the vet will do labs and most likely nothing will show. If it does and it’s treatable, great. But they won’t likely recommend an MRI given his age, but I am so worried this is a brain tumor. He’s too young. And what hurts more is I’m not with him and won’t be for another week.
Anyone else have labradoodles that developed seizures early on? What were the results? I know idiopathic seizures are fairly common in dogs, poodle mixes especially. I honestly just can’t think right now because I am thinking worst case scenario.
Any advice or stories is appreciated.

2023.06.02 05:23 PlanesandWhisky Can we be real about the 2023 presidential election for a moment...

TLDR: I cannot be the only person who sees this.... Biden is too old and frail, a bit shady, and his VP is clueless and completely unqualified.... Trump is a criminal and also too old and unfit for office and totally corrupt.... Can we please please please get a couple of reasonable candidates to vote for... literally any regular ass American would be better.
Let's start out with my intention. I would love for this post to get 69 million 420 thousand upvotes... but seriously, I want as many people as possible to see this because the media is starting to make me feel like I am the only person who sees that this election cycle is nuts.
This Presidential election is looking to be a choice between two terrible options... I will outline all of my demographics followed by my thoughts and I would really like to hear some alternative opinions because as a regular ass voter, I see nothing but terrible options from the two parties and I am starting to feel like I am the only one who sees that the current political landscape is a total shit show.
Demographics: Ethnicity: Caucasian Gender: Male Age: 35 Occupation: Military Officer Education: BS (it was a bullshit degree but also a bachelor of science) Relationship: Married (divorced once but I deserved it. I was a total shithead the first time) ... happy to provide any other demographics but at the end of the day I am a regular American with a regular salary, a regular job, a regular everything else.
Biden Let me start off by admitting that I was wrong about this guy. I voted for him in the last election because I felt like President Trump was unstable as fuck and presidential policy should not be posted on social media or be based on how one man is feeling that particular day. Biden promised a lot, I didn't expect much from him, to be honest, but I had hoped that we would at least get a president who was able to fill the role at a basic level. I was not looking for Teddy Roosevelt or Abraham Lincoln. I was simply hoping for a President who would show up to work, have a reasonable foreign policy, who would put some pressure on the corporations and their CEOs making millions of dollars, and who would address the issues that the majority of Americans were dealing with like student loans, health care, unfair taxes, and loopholes that benefit the 1% and fuck the 99%. End of the day I was hoping that he would look out for the 99 and not the 1%. So far we have got some good and bad in terms of policy... he got us out of the war in the middle east even though that was completely fucked up... poor planning... total rush to failure. Thank God that more people were not killed or injured and God bless those service members who sacrificed all for this shitty plan, they were patriots and I am thankful every day that we have Americans like them willing to "stand the watch." He got some relief for parents who could use the help financially when times were tough during covid but he totally fucked it up when he fumbled the ball when it came to supporting the unions like the rail workers, amazon, etc, he fucked up student debt relief (we shouldn't ONLY forgive loans...we need to address the outrageous price tag on education in addition to the loans)... He appointed Mayer Pete who had one job as Transportation Secretary and totally fucked that up by prioritizing his image over actually dealing with airline travel (I am a pilot so a bit read in on this topic... he screwed the pooch on this one), trains, and the supply chain.... he also has been a bit short sided on Ukraine support.... (Ukraine deserves independence but there needs to be an explanation of what we are getting as taxpayers for our money... Please explain to me what the return on investment is for the billions we are spending. I do not have an issue with spending our tax dollars on helping make the world a better place but I need to know how my $50B+ is making a difference before you spend it.) Also his sons.... Beau was a naval officer who allegedly did a bunch of drugs.... should have been booted out of the military and Hunter absolutely took dirty money and it was all covered up. President Biden may not have been involved in any of that but at the end of the day, all of the sins of his sons were covered up for the benefit of their father.
Trump As a white male military officer, I thought I was definitely a Republican before this guy came into office. I mean come on, I was basically their prime demographic. At least that is what I was told my whole adult life. I was unsure when he was elected as I thought this was a publicity stunt. Then he put "Mad Dog" Mattis in office as the Sec Def and I thought "America, Fuck YEA!" he had a bunch of crazy ass tweets and I wrote most of them off because I trusted that General Mattis and the rest of the cabinet would keep the country on the right track. And then he fired Mattis. This was the point when I realized this dude is a sociopath who only cared about being "right". He gave no fucks about what the correct decision was... all he wanted was to be "right." The most respected military General since Colin Powel was fired/resigned from the office of Sec Def under President Trump.... This was shocking. But who knows what happened behind closed doors.... perhaps this was for the best. Then the election and Jan 06. And since then this dude has been the sorest loser I have ever seen. It has been 3 years and he is still talking about how the election was stolen and if you disagree with him he will blackmail you into agreeing with him or he will support your opposition candidate. Fuck this dude. That is not how democracy works..... I do not disagree with his foreign policy as a military officer... He made some solid decisions regarding China and his critique of NATO was not completely incorrect. He said things and made decisions that others were afraid to say and do and I was into it but he also said and did things that was I absolutely not into... if you want America's help then there has to be some benefit to the American taxpayer... if you want to fuck around and find out with OPEC and your pilot students shooting up an American Military Base... then enjoy fighting your wars with Iran on your own.... I full-heartedly believe that the American Tax Payer should see a return on investment for their taxes but President Trump seems to only actually give a shit about his own personal gain. Let's not be naive, his son-in-law totally got paid off by Mohammed bin Salman. He 100% had the support of the Putin regime. He gave himself and his buddies tax breaks that he did not afford the 99%. He said a lot of crazy shit. This guy is nuts and doesn't give two shits about the 99%. He will gladly give you a MAGA hat for your donation but when it comes to actual policy, he has shown that he will take your money, put some in his own pocket, some in the pockets of his friends, and then give you just a little bit back so that you feel like you got the good end of the deal.....The average American made much less than the 1%... he gave you some back in covid relief to make you forget that you were getting royally fucked.
I am not running for president but if I was this would be my platform... in other words, this would be the platform that I wish we could vote for!
There are a lot of other policies that we can go through here and no POTUS is going to have all the answers (that's why he or she needs a strong cabinet). I hope that there is some discussion started here... but at the end of the day.... the two candidates that we are likely looking at are both unfit. We deserve some quality candidates and not the old crazy reality TV star and the Old washed-up politician with a terrible VP. Give me someone reasonable to vote for, please!

2023.06.02 05:23 Macnab18 Lethbridge Mormons Trying to Run the Schools

What is up with the Mormons protesting everything that happens in Lethbridge schools. Too much screen time and hiring speakers to go in. Why does the school boards/districts allow this? Now with Pride coming up they are freaking out. I do not want my child to hear or be exposed to any of it. So home school them if you think the rest of society is below you. Your temples are big enough, school them out of them. Then of course human sexuality is taboo. It irritates me to no end how they feel they are superior.

2023.06.02 05:21 UnhappyBusiness Why is there no "quality control" anymore?

It's to the point 5 year old indie games (with updates) are better then fresh "AAA" content.
Where did it all go so wrong?
Why do they not test their games on the platforms they release them on?
Why do big companies like playstation & microsoft, nintendo, steam just allow absolute shit to flood their stores now?
We went from the golden age, where it would be the IT guy reaching out to get grants to release their game.
To businessmen hiring the IT guy & not knowing wtf they even want.
Indie games have been booming for the past 10 years because of this. It's the IT guy, not the shitty businessman. But now we also allow just shit to flood the stores, like someones weird anime foot fettish.. you're all out of fkn control lol.
I think it's time we stop the businessman from controlling this shit, leave it up to the community to vote on it. What do you think? What are some solutions we could come up with to stop this from happening?
My biggest complaint, is that if we look at the PS2 days. There was so much more passion on these projects, about 10 games out of thousands actually got bad ratings. Name more then 10...
Now the ratio is 1000-1 (1 good game out of every 1000 with a typical 7/10 rating)
Now all these new projects, games coming out all seem so lackluster & soulless. Why do we let these fuckers run this shit? & just accept / conform to it? RIP the industry.
All i ask, is more quality control plz... not quantity.. tity lol

2023.06.02 05:17 SimpleRickC135 How to fire a client

I have worked with this client for almost four years now. She's always been kind of a headache, but things were ok for the most part.
After this past week though, I am done. I have a full time job with growing responsibilities and she was always a side client. She does not seem to understand that, does not understand that she hired a professional for professional opinions and constantly tells me to "stop questioning things". Like, no, I am not questioning, I am telling you that tiny white writing on a yellow background does not work and no one will read it. I am telling you there are typos in the copy. Etc. I am asking you what the purpose of this marketing email is. (There is usually no point to the marketing email.)
She runs an online business, I am pretty much the only thing keeping it from going under. She is incapable of even looking up an address for an order with her own business, contacting a customer, filling an order, etc. She will text me to do that. Sometimes with the miscommunication it can take DAYS to complete what should happen in thirty seconds.
The business does not make any money, it's more of a hobby for her. It used to make a bit of money, but things have really dropped off for the last year or so and as such I only work for her an average of 4-5 hours a month, tops.
How do I fire this person. If I stop working for her, the business will likely die. I do not dislike her as a person, but working with her has become infuriating to the point that it's just not worth it anymore.
Any advice is appreciated.

2023.06.02 05:17 Ijustlivehereok Messy roommate/also landlord will not take care of his cat or clean *anything ever*

Roommate is also my landlord. Will not clean ANYTHING ever and has to be asked several times to at the very least clean up his cats poop/vomit which I find on the floor almost every day.
He claimed that he was hiring someone to clean before I moved in, but not a moving company, just a girl. A girl who evidently took his (very generous) payment and didn’t do a single thing. When I moved in the house was beyond filthy, with old takeout boxes growing mold stacked up on the floors, dust everywhere, dried up cat vomit, tons of clutter making it even harder to clean, etc etc. I have put a lot of work into organizing it and cleaning it up and I am the only one who maintains it. Occasionally when I am feeling overwhelmed(I work twice as much as he does) I will give him ONE small job to do, like take out the trash. He agrees to do it, and then leaves it. I give him a daily reminder, and he continues to say “ok, so sorry, I’m on it!” And then leaves it again and again til I finally cave and do it myself, like I do literally everything else.
I don’t know what to do besides move out to fix this problem. I also don’t want to complain so much that he kicks me out, but he refuses to contribute AT ALL to keeping the house clean and his cat is the one making all of the messes. I honestly worry for the cats health because he doesn’t take care of him or clean up after him, and it’s concerning how often the cat vomits, and poops outside of the litter box. He won’t take him to the vet. Says he takes him once a year in September and that last year they told him everything was fine, so it must be. But this cannot be normal, and has been getting worse.
Any idea of what I can say or do to get through to him, that doesn’t involve moving out, would be appreciated
