2023.06.02 07:49 twoteethlesstulips Working before hired?
I’m in the US (Mississippi) and applied for a job at my college campus’ cafe. I was asked to come in to fill out paperwork, but after I arrived, I was immediately put to work. I hadn’t done any onboarding paperwork whatsoever nor did I have an employee number. Up until that point, I’d only sent in an application and interviewed. They worked me for 6 hours and forgot to give me a lunch break also. They only informed me after my shift had ended. Is there any action that can be taken? Because it all feels very off.

2023.06.02 07:40 Character-Prompt-277 Maintain campus cleanliness Reject Yan Limon for Perelman Medical College
| #yanlimeng Yan Limeng has a doctorate in ophthalmology, but in ophthalmology has been obscure, no attainment, the only thing that makes him famous is published on the Internet "new coronavirus man-made theory". Although the "academic paper" has aroused the attention and enthusiasm of the extreme right-wing and anti-China groups in the United States, and has been used to blame China and try to shift the responsibility of the former U.S. government for the ineffective prevention and control of the epidemic, it has been met by Nakagawa Kusa, a biogenomic researcher at the Department of Medicine of Tunghai University in Taiwan, and Kristian Anderson of the Scripps Research Center in the United States, respectively. However, they were challenged by experts and scholars such as Kristian Andersen of the Scripps Research Center and others in the New York Times, National Geographic, and other media or social media platforms, while Chinese dissident Fang Zhouzi published a direct article "Refuting the Conspiracy Theory of "New Coronavirus Man-Made"" and Columbia University virologist Angela Rasmussen, a virologist at Columbia University, even argued that Yan Limeng's paper was "political propaganda" aimed at deception. https://preview.redd.it/u8cy72x6lj3b1.jpg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cdf0c621a285663f2ec9e97cbb02bb89539e1b37 submitted by Character-Prompt-277 to u/Character-Prompt-277 [link] [comments] |

2023.06.02 07:25 Beneficial-Bonus-412 My mom sent me a link to a psychology course online. it was a Christian college with required attendance of Sunday chapel.
I (16NB) was looking at colleges, specifically with good psychology courses. ever since i was a kid, i knew i wanted to be in psychology. i have the next 22 years of my life roughly planned out, but that's a post for another time.
anyway, I've been deconstructing for about 2 years, and my parents have been aware of this for around 6 months and they still force me to attend church. they're constantly buying me Jesus books and other ridiculous propaganda. i have like six on my bookshelf (idk where else to put them).
i have already picked out my first and second choice colleges and she seemed ecstatic for me about that. at the time i told her about this, i also told her about me emailing somebody at my first choice for more information and she was really proud of me.
she wanted to major in psychology, but everybody told her that that's impractical and that she should go for nursing instead, and so she did. she ended up doing 2 years and getting pregnant with me, and dropping out.
today, she sent me a link to a college course for psychology. of course it was a Christian college. i thought that as long there weren't any mandatory religion classes or mass or anything like that, I'd be fine. then i saw the list of classes.
there were a few ridiculous ones like "defending the word" and "prophetic reading" so i just closed the tab and left it.
what really fucking sucks though, is that it looked like a really good option, minus the religion.
after you graduate, they give you the opportunity to get a fully paid internship, it can be online or on-campus (which is really good for me because traveling makes me sick sometimes), it had counseling practice (little kids who's parents had consented) and a few other details i don't exactly remember.
i actually thought about switching from my original first choice to this one until i saw the religion.
i guess the point of this post is that I'm so fucking sick of religion taking everything from me.

| Online MBA: Online MBA refers to the Master of Business Administration degree program that is offered online, allowing students to pursue their studies remotely via the internet. These programs are typically structured in a way that mirrors traditional on-campus MBA programs, offering courses in various business disciplines such as finance, marketing, operations, and strategy. Online MBA Course: An online MBA course is a specific unit of study within an online MBA program. These courses cover a wide range of subjects relevant to business administration, including leadership, accounting, entrepreneurship, organizational behavior, and more. Online MBA courses often incorporate interactive learning materials, virtual discussions, and collaborative projects to facilitate engagement and knowledge acquisition. 2023.06.02 07:04 salty-quackers I (18F) broke up with boyfriend (19M) of 7 months 2 days ago, now he wants me to reconsider.
I’ve felt my whole first year of college was wasted. He treats me well, is very sweet and caring and chivalrous. But at the same time he was too clingy to let me focus on my school even after multiple talks about it, but now he’s saying he’ll change, especially since we’ll both be living on campus next year (I didn’t live on campus last year) and it’ll be easier to hang out so we won’t have to hang out as much. He also didn’t want me to go to parties with my friends and had issues with my male friends i’ve been friends with for years. He said it would be fine if they would meet him, but they were willing to meet him in the beginning of the relationship and he met one of them but now they don’t want to meet him because they know he doesn’t like them. One time he even reached out to one of my friends and asked to go for a drive (alone) while i was at work. Boyfriend doesn’t seem to understand how creepy that is. My parents also think he’s creepy because of incident in the beginning of the relationship where he would just walk in the door and not announce himself and suddenly appear behind them/us out of the blue, one of these times I wasn’t even home and although I told him he could go to my house to get some stuff while I was at work. I didn’t think to let my parents know he was coming because I assumed he’d knock. He proceeded to just walk in my front door and not announce himself even as he heard my parents talking to each other trying to figure out if someone was walking into the house or not. He then just showed up in the kitchen and scared the living hell out of them. They took the battery out of our front door lock after that. He’s made me block a few guys, some of them i understand because I had fairly recent involvement with them, but once he just went on my phone and blocked a guy I dated my freshman year of high school for 2 months who I don’t talk to. He likes to try and make me jealous by bragging about girls of his past to me, and since one time it worked he uses that against me for why I can’t think he’s being too controlling. He wants to get back together with me and is giving me a few days to decide whether I want to be with him again and he’s saying he’ll change, but my family tells me to be cautious because he’s said he’ll change in the past too. I guess what i’m trying to ask is is it normal to give up the things he wants me to give up for a relationship? Did i make a mistake by breaking up with him for freedom?
PS: also sick of his constant comments about what women choose to wear. don’t go to one of the biggest party schools if you can’t handle what girls where to parties. it would be one thing if he just made a comment about it once or twice, but he’s made several. and he told me that because of my body count, i have a very slim chance of being in a happy healthy relationship, but he says he and i are in a happy healthy relationship so it’s all good. and he lectures me on staying out late, etc like he’s my dad. one time he asked if my shorts were too small for me (butt wasn’t even out, i was just sitting down so they rode up a little bit) and when i told him he’s not my dad he said “your dad wouldn’t care about the shorts you’re wearing would he?” my dad isn’t that present in my life, so this stung a little. he later told me he thought i told him he was acting like my actual bio dad and was defending himself? doesn’t really make sense to me.
TLDR: boyfriend dislikes my partying (which i never even did that often) and male friends that i’ve had for years, is clingy to the point where i can’t focus on anything else, and my parents think he’s crazy. but in the other hand he loves and cares for me and is always there for me. am i making the right choice breaking up with him?

2023.06.02 06:45 Nero234 If given the chance to produce a movie/TV series with an unlimited budget, what would it be about and who do you want to direct it?
The talks of the traditional media dying and outgrowing the current generation made me remember the comments Fil directors had on
Parasite and the climate of PH cinema/industry.
With that said, I'll immediately greenlight Tarrog's 3rd installment of the "Hero's franchise" as I'm dying to see his "Quezon" movie.
But what I really want is a movie about the
Diliman Commune. The event was before Martial Law and took place during
FQS, a time of civil unrest and protests against the rising social issues and corruption in our society. Tell me na hindi ka na ha-hype reading how these students ransacked their college buildings at mga kalapit na tindahan in order to make
Molotov cocktails and acquire materials for their barricades. I'll badly want to see the massive student walkout in their classes after a UP math prof shot and killed
Pastor "Sonny" Mesina Jr which leads to enraging every student and resulting in them joining the barricades, on screen.
The post even described how some students went on rooftops and fired
kwitis as an
anti-air defense for
helicopters surrounding the place. That event was a full-on siege of a university vs constabulary/institution with radio teams broadcasting to the entire campus messages and morale support for every sector.
I think Mikhail Red can do it kasi ang ganda ng cinematography niya sa campus in
Dead Kids, but it also feels like na he doesn't really know how students act. He also has an issue sa previous movies niya sa flow ng stories, so a screenwriter is needed. But you cannot deny yung kagalingan niya sa pag handle ng effects
But a part of me really wants Erik Matti to do it. Kahit na mas kilala siya sa
Noir genre, but who hasn't seen
On the Job? The mini-series he did for HBO as a sequel (The Missing 8) had a lot of political intrigue in it and he really knows how to portray the
emotions of the people pati narin yung kagalingan niyang pumili ng actors for roles.

2023.06.02 06:33 Complex-Town8790 Grad housing CLV-N vs United college (st.paul before)
I've got offers from both of places and wonder which place is better.
Both of these are 2bedroom houses and CLV-N has 1.5 bathroom and united college has 1.
Rental prices are almost same and each place has pros and cons.
CLV-N seems much more spacious but far from campus, united college is close to campus but has only 1 bathroom.
Is there anyone experienced these two places?

2023.06.02 06:08 OverallSelection9517 How do I find out if an IG investigation was founded
A few months ago, I made an on-the-spot correction multiple times on a soldier within my organization. A few weeks later after the third or fourth correction, I got pulled into my Battalion Commander's and was counseled that I was being flagged for an IG investigation for allegations of counter-productive leadership styles. The IO that came down to investigate the claim ended up being an ex from college, but I was assured that it wasn't a problem because we were professionals.
A few weeks later, the IO sent me an email telling me that the allegations were founded. They emailed me the entirety of the investigation without redactions so my lawyer and I could review it and rebuttal their findings. After submitting the rebuttal, my BC told me that they were unflagging me because the investigation was over. A month later, as I'm clearing post, a new IO shows up. They weren't clear on what happened, but they were given an extremely redacted copy of the investigation and told to reinvestigate everything. I never heard anything back, which my lawyer said, "That's good news because it means it was unfounded"
I've been signed into my new unit now for a couple of months now. I haven't heard anything back about the investigation. My OER was already completed, signed, and accepted by HRC with a HQ block check, but an MQ write up. No mention or anything derogatory pertaining to the investigation. Nobody from the old unit that would know isn't responding to any type of communication. Even friends at the unit have distanced themselves from me. The IG Office at that base has also told me to do a FOIA request if I want to see the results. Meanwhile, my lawyer has told me, "No news is good news".
For anyone who has experience with IG investigations or the receiving end of a founded one, how do you know if you were found guilty? My concern is that founded IG investigations are now being shared with promotion boards. My profile is very healthy and I'm probably going to promote. However, I don't want to find out a few years from now I'm not competitive because of a potentially founded investigation.

2023.06.02 05:53 y_e_t_h_ Appealing 24/30 rule
I’m graduating this coming Fall but want to take calc at Collin instead of UTD because I reached my credit hr limit for the semester. It’s also not available at Collin rn (the classes are full) and I cannot afford Dallas college rates.
Do y’all think they’ll accept the appeal? And does anyone have experience with this? If so, how long did it take to hear back?

2023.06.02 05:52 Independent_Miner PhD in UK - Seeking admission & Queries
Hey everyone!
I wanted to provide a bit of background about myself. I'm a 25-year-old guy who recently completed my MBA from Pune University, with a BCA as my undergraduate degree. Currently, I'm working as an Assistant Professor at an MBA College.
Throughout my academic journey, I have always had a strong desire to pursue a Ph.D., and now I'm even more certain that I want to build my career in academia. I have recently applied for a Ph.D. program at Pune University and have already had an interview. While I feel quite confident about being admitted there, I have also been considering the possibility of pursuing a Ph.D. in the UK, preferably with full funding opportunities.
Given this, I would greatly appreciate your insights and advice. What things I should be prepared with regarding getting admitted? It's worth mentioning that I haven't published any research papers yet, although I am currently engaged in a literature review. While I have some understanding of the research process, I am still seeking to expand my knowledge and expertise in this area.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and suggestions!

2023.06.02 05:30 AnnaJellicle13 Complicated Breakup, Should I Have Hope or is There No Chance?
TL;DR AT THE END. Also a Poll
This is a complicated situation and I need to vent, so this post is probably gonna be a doozy but bear with me.
Before I explain the breakup I should give some context about the relationship in general. I'm 22F and he's 23M, and we met on hinge almost exactly 1 year ago on memorial day. He broke up with me on the 10th of May after dating just 10 months and 10 days of living together.
Since the day we met we hit it off completely, and the pace of the relationship was going really fast. We couldn't help it, everything was perfect. Before we actually started dating though, we hit a bump. He asked me out, but I was still finishing up a situationship and I didnt want to commit until I knew I could give him everything. He took this as me not being interested (I didnt explain myself very well), so one day he suddenly texted me saying he doesn't want to see me anymore and blocked me everywhere. He liked me a lot and got scared. This was a wake up call for me- I realized I was about to lose an amazing guy so I did something a little creepy and went to his friends house to ask him to text him for me asking for a second chance (I did not know where he lived yet, but he had taken me to his friends place before). It worked though! We met at the place we had our first date and so began the best 10 months of my life.
Again, one big thing about our relationship is how fast it went. We nosedived into love and for most of it it seemed like HE was the one more infatuated. We were obsessed with eachother and spent so much time together. I could list every thing that worked in our relationship but this post is already so long. In just 10 months we formed a deep connection, made amazing memories, and overcame obstacles. We never fought. He prioritized me completely and I could see how much he admired me genuinely, how vulnerable he could be with me. Our time together was so dense it felt like we were together longer.
All this might have been our downfall. He graduated college in December, and since NOVEMBER he had been struggling to find a job. His parents finally hired a coach for him, and in March he was at my apartment when he FINALLY had a successful interview and got hired. The issue though, was that the job is in Dallas. I lived in Austin. He lived in San Antonio.
I was immediately overwhelmed. I had just moved into my apartment in January, and I wasn't initially optimistic about the idea of moving again or going long-ish distance. He prioritized me so much though, that he offered to wait for a job in Austin. After so much struggle to find a job that he broke down in front of his parents! This really moved me, and I decided I'm willing to make the leap and move in with him. He also seemed not only ready, but very excited about taking the next step. We couldn't wait.
He moved there before me mid April to get started at his job and find an apartment for us. My landlord lets me end my lease and I put in my 2 weeks at work to prepare for moving in on the 30th. Up until the very day I moved he expressed how excited he was.
Finally the 30th comes and I'm up there with him and I'm over the moon. I'm falling more in love with him and I'm so incredibly happy. Since around the second day though, I noticed a slight change in behavior from him. He was irritable, and didn't seem as happy as I was. His affection didn't seem as genuine, more routine. His big complaint at this time was about not having a lot of "free time" since we still had a lot on our plate the next couple weekends getting settled in as well as him working during the week. I tried not to overthink it though or assume that meant time away from me. Our connection was still there and I could tell he still loved me. He was still making an effort and talking about our future.
After day 6 it actually got a bit better. He initiated more affection and it seemed genuine. But, I still had a feeling he wasn't really enjoying spending quality time with me. At this time I also noticed that his libido was very low. This is the beginning of the end.
The night before he broke up with me we had a big conversation. After dinner, he said that after he plays 1 round of a game that we can... yknow. I was like, sweet! I'll chill on the couch until he's ready. After he finishes the game though he starts watching YouTube, and it's getting late. My gut tells me he's avoiding intimacy and I get frustrated. I walk up to him asking if I should just take a shower and go to bed. He's immediately frustrated after I walk up to him and proclaims, "I think we are experiencing a disconnect." This really shocks me and he notices, so he scrambles to take it back and suggests we sit down to talk.
I regret how needy and frustrated I was during this conversation. But it stemmed from me feeling insecure and rejected in general. I was convinced he wasn't attracted to me anymore (even though thats not the case and there's evidence against that.) He explained that he just has a low sex drive at the moment because there's been a lot on his plate and he sees me all the time now. He accidentally said some things that triggered my insecurity in this convo, and I ended up crying. But the conversation ended with us understanding eachothers situation. When I first started working full time, my libido was also low. In my case, he understood that I'm very happy with the new living situation plus I'm not working atm so my libido is higher than usual. It seemed we reached an understanding, but when I asked how he felt after the convo he said he felt "peculiar." I think part of me knew that's when he detached. He held me when we went to bed though.
I woke up at noon the next morning, May 10th, and immediately after waking up he came home for lunch early. I was still groggy when he sat on the couch and said "we need to talk."
He's breaking up with me just 10 days after I moved in with him. He said the conversation the night before made him realize that it's not working. The first reason he gave me was bullshit. He said that his libido isn't going to go up, and that he believed I would eventually snap at him. He said we're not sexually compatible. I won't go into detail but that simply isn't true. I called him out on that and then he said that's not the only reason.
His other reason hurts the most. He said that he simply is not happy anymore, and that I'm no longer his top priority. It got to the point where he dreads spending time with me because he would rather spend time alone. He said that's not fair to me and that he won't put me through that any longer. I mentioned how sudden this is, and he said he'd actually been thinking about this for the past few weeks- and that the 10 days we lived together was him trying to make it work.
Despite all this he said he still loves me. So I begged him to not give up. I tried to tell him that when I get a job he'll have more free time, he said no. I tried to offer going back to the way we were with me in my own apartment, he said no. "I'm not doing that 'on a break' shit." He said. He also said he doesn't want to live with ANYONE for a LONG time. I pressed that he must have lost SOME feelings to be doing this to me, and he replied "I lost the spark, I guess."
This is why I'm so confused. After doing research it seems like he likely started going through relationship burnout. He just started a full time job for the first time ever AND he moved to a new location, that has to be the reason right? That would explain why breaking up had crossed his mind before we even moved in together- when he was still head over heels.
But why would he give up if he truly loved me? Was his love not as strong as it seemed? Was he doomed to never make it past the honeymoon stage? Did he discover that he just doesn't want to be with ME? He seemed so sure that this was permanent when he was breaking up with me. That the relationship had failed. How could he be willing to throw everything away for good? Not only that, but to kick me out of our apartment after I had just moved. He said this is the worst thing he's ever done and that he'll be guilty of this his whole life. He must have really really wanted to break up.
But I also have hope. What we had was truly special and we're so compatible. He said I was perfect for him. Its almost like we merged into 1 being. I'm willing to build trust again and start anew if he is. Maybe we just need time apart to grow. My fear is though, that even if he changes his mind and regrets this he may never have the courage to reach out after doing this to me. Maybe he wouldn't be able to live with the guilt or maybe he believes he ruined things beyond repair.
So here I am back in Austin living with my family. I drove back the same day he broke up with me and we've been NC since the 18th after I finished moving back out. No job, no apartment, no boyfriend. I really need help understanding this situation.
I'm going to try and move on regardless of what happens in the future, but it would be nice to have a 3rd party perspective on what to expect.
And it would be nice if he's to one to chase me down this time.
TL;DR: My boyfriend finally got a job after months of searching since graduation, but it's in Dallas while we're in Austin/San Antonio. We decided to move in together, but he breaks up with me after just 10 days of living together due to relationship burnout in the face of starting work full time/moving cities. He says it's because he became unhappy with not enough free time and he stopped enjoying spending time with me/seeing me all the time. We had previously had a very deep, loving relationship with no problems and were both excited to take this step in our relationship. He said he still loves me, but he believes the relationship failed. At the time it seems he has no intention of ever getting back together. But is there a possibility of reconnection in the future?

2023.06.02 05:12 Illustrious-Band6900 Why is college so expensive?? WTFF
I’m an upcoming senior in high school and I started looking up the prices for colleges and Jesus!! 87k A YEAR??? 68k A YEAR??? 19k ROOM AND BOARD?? I could get a roommate and split a 1500 dollar apartment for TWO YEARS and it would still be less than 19k, minus furniture and all that, but still. AND they make you stay on campus for 2 years. My family isn’t poor but there is no WAY they can afford that? Can I even work to the point of staying out of debt? With financial aid and merit scholarships, and other scholarships I can only PRAY that I receive a lot of money bc it is all just too much. Also I apparently don’t have a college fund and my parents won’t let me work during the school year, I think they want me to be buried in debt, I actually can’t do ts anymore wtff. I need to win the lottery or something. Sorry for the rant. Do y’all have any advice on how to save money?

2023.06.02 05:06 Mobile-Downtown My best friend tried to file a sexual harassment report against me and i don't know what to feel
I'm not one to usually post stuff on any social media platform but this has been haunting me and i really need to get it off my chest. I will be as objective as i can as i tell this story involving me and my best friend - we'll call her X. In order to understand the full context of our situationship, i'll have to go back a couple years. BACKSTORY: It was my first fall semester in college in 2020 back when classes shifted online. I met X through one of my classes and we hit it off eventually. It wasn't until fall 2021 when we headed back to campus where i met her irl and our friendship grew stronger (maybe too strong). At the time, i was in a 1 year relationship and my girlfriend wasn't keen on me being friends with her but i assured her she is nothing more than a friend. However, circumstances led to my girlfriend and i splitting up. X was there for me and we would spend a lot of time hanging out, so much so, people assumed we were dating but i just laughed it off. Most of my friends would insist that X has feelings for me but i always dismissed their remarks as i thought they were reading too much into it. Summer 2022 comes around and after a bit of a confrontation from my end, X admits that she likes me. In fact she admits that she has had a crush on me ever since we had met back in 2020. I was embarrassed as to how blind i was to her feelings all this time but i apologized to her as i didn't feel the same way and i assured her our friendship will not be affected. However, that would not turn out to be the case. We didn't see each other much until late 2022 when we went back to college. I was surprised to see that she got herself a boyfriend she didn't even tell me about. It wasn't a big deal as i too got myself a girlfriend and, since we hadn't been talking as much, didn't let her know. Before i met my girlfriend, her and X were good close friends but they grew apart as my girlfriend considered X to be very toxic to her. When X found iut we were daring, she called us some names to her friends (who are also our friends) but acted normally when l was around, as our interaction was now only limited to occasional college questions and assignments. I also just went with the flow. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago, X is my lab partner and we were cutting raw chicken for an experiment. I called for her help but she wouldn't as she was disgusted by it. I pushed for her help that wouldn't come so i thought it'll be a funny idea to cover my gloves with raw chicken and chase after her. She walked away frantically (can't run in a lab) asking me to stop but i continued to walk after her and i doused HER GLOVES with my gloves that were wet with raw chicken and i went back to my station. She then seemed very upset and when the instructor asked her to return tk my station and help me out, X stormed out of class. I followed her to make sure she's okay and i apologized (she refused and asked me to leave). Now the instructor (who saw everything but doesn't care as we always have some fun around in the lab as it was our last ever lab) went to check up on X and that was when X started crying and wished to never see me again. I was surprised by her - what appeared to me as drastic - reaction but i figured she'd cool off and i can talk to her again and apologize for what i did. Couple days later however, i receive a message from an office director that a report for sexual harrassment had been filed against me on the basis that i attacked X with raw chicken and refused to stop when she asked me to. I was starstruck by how far that went and i was terrified by the entire situation as that was clearly not my intention but now my entire career is at risk. I've never been in a fight, i've never been inappropritely involved with anyone, i was genuinely scared of being that guy. Thankfully, the office responsible assured me that i was not in trouble as this case does not warrant an investigation and was not deemed as harassment. This is how the situation holds, she cannot bear me in the same roon with her, and i will not go out of my way and apologize again to someone who perhaps saw this opportunity as revenge I'm glad things didn't ecalate further and my life didn't fall apart but i still don't understand. We were supposed to be good friends why did she think was trying to harass her? With raw chicken gloves? She has every tight to be upset but to try and ruin my entire life over it? Why didn't she just come to me and talk to me about it? Is this her way of payback? Is this situation blown out of proportion or is she in the right? Am i really a bad guy? I don't know what to think.
