2023.06.02 07:01 Negotiator007 My live reaction to every song on the album (spoilers for the songs!)
Remember, this was my reaction, written down while listening to the songs, mid song. If something doesn't make sense, it was because I was distracted by the music.
Rescued - 9/10 - bop, already listened to it, love the outro/bridge.
Under You - 8/10 - already released, some classic early 2000s foos, reminds me of learning to fly
Hearing Voices - 8.5/10 - first new one! acoustic. Love the laid back voice. That is not a sound I have heard in a voice for a while, love the echoed sound of his voice and the guitars, chorus stays chill. reminds me of saint cecilia in terms of musicality. loving dave's singing in this album. some of the guitar I think ruins the vibe, especially around 2:20 ish. like the fade back to the acoustic and piano, absolutely beautiful.
But Here We Are - 10/10 - didnt listen live. cool af drums, 7/4? back to times like these? love the distortion guitar in the intro. kinda wonky? awesome prechorus and drum fill. great chorus, lots of emotion in it. not sure if I like the screamy or the echo on the voice? guitar sounds cool though. love the drums on this song, and the keyboard in the background of the chorus. guitar solo too?? with killer drums?? OUTRO SOLO??? great overall.
The Glass - 9.5/10 - MORE ACOUSTIC! heavy vibes, reminds me of karma police for some reason? really sad vibes, but gets positive. definitely a vibey song, something to listen too when you're down. still very much foo fighters. super chill. the "there is something between us" part makes me want to sing. love the tiny guitar solo! wish they kept it going for the chorus. love the little outro. keeps it well paced.
Nothing At All - 9/10 - heard the live version before. love the intro! heavy vibes. not sure if I like the reverby voice, but I like the distortion. guitars could be less muted, but leaves a great build to the chorus. EXPLOSIVE CHORUS. still, not sure about the muted guitars. still love the build. love the bridge, wish the breakdown was longer, without the lyrics. Live version is better. If the breakdown was extended, guitars were less muted in the verses, would have been 10/10.
Show Me How - 9.9/10 - listened to it as a single, mega vibes. violet being there alone at the end is just beautiful. nearly made me cry.
Beyond Me - 9.5/10 - weird keys? sad vibes again. love the whispers, big contrast to most foo fighters screaming. the way the guitars come in is beautiful. strong message. feels like if a buble song was written by foo fighters. still like the weird keys. lyrics are direct, so strong. W SOLO!!! comfortably numb vibes for some reason? solo couldve kept going through the chorus imo.
The Teacher - 10/10 - listened prior to the album, but listening in the context of everything changes the song. One of the best songs ive ever heard emotions-wise, lots of repeated lyrics build the intensity well. The strings make me want to cry. hard to believe they could pack so many great riffs in to one song. so much emotion! The force in the WAKE UPs resonates with me in some beautiful way. The fake ending is still cool. the reverb and echo on dave's vocals add just that little bonus sadness to the song. Love the outro and the white noise. That outro riff is one of the best riffs I think the foos have ever made. The way the white noise just cuts o-
Rest - 11/10 - unspeakable. just beautiful. listen to it yourself, along with the rest of the album. Don't normally cry to music, but this made me tear up.
Listened to the album as soon as it came out. This has to be their best album yet. 10/10.
My opinions will probably change over time, just wanted to share my first reactions.

2023.06.02 07:01 Dardarbear Elderly cat - is it too soon to say 'it's time' ?
Molly is 17 1/2. For a few years now, her hips have been bothering her. We try help make things easier as best we can, which included a soft ramp up to her spot on the couch. It's cute. However, with the hips meant she couldn't clean herself like she use to. This has graduated into her not cleaning her whole body now. We were doing regular brushings, but she has been trying to run/escape when I try now. I have trimmed some areas down as best I can, before any matting got too close. Now, she doesn't even want me to do that.
Her nails don't shed anymore. She doesn't bother trying to trim or anything. Again, we were keeping up with regular trims here at home, but she's been fighting that too, and tonight she screamed bloody murder. Her nails grow so fast. If she won't let me trim them regularly, they will (and have!) curled and grown into her pawpad.
I want to make an appointment for the vet to see if they can do anything about her nails. But, if she doesn't let me keep up with them, or with her brushing and other hygiene, what do I do? She eats, drinks, and loves being pet. She uses the litter box regularly.
I feel like a failure and like I'm giving up if I say "Maybe it's time." She seems fine health-wise, but the nail problem is getting worse and worse each week. I don't want her in pain, or have her quality of life diminished. I feel like a shitty pet-mom. If you were in my shoes, what would you think?
I am calling the vet tomorrow to make an appointment for our other kitty, and I will ask them on the phone what they think. But I wanted reddits opinion. I'm not doing great about this. We have had her almost her entire life. She's our sweet baby.

2023.06.02 07:01 AutoModerator What are the benefits and side effects of Ashwagandha?
What is ashwagandha?
The ashwagandha plant is one of the
most powerful herbs. Various parts of the ashwagandha plant are used for medicinal purposes, with ashwagandha extract mainly being used in supplements. Ashwagandha is an adaptogen, a natural agent that reportedly helps the body cope with stress. As a result, it’s believed to be effective at helping reduce levels of the stress hormone, cortisol. It may also therefore potentially help with anxiety and depression too.
What does ashwagandha do? Reduces Stress and Anxiety
Ashwagandha is known to help reduce stress and anxiety. One way it does this is by reducing levels of cortisol, a hormone that is released in response to stress. Additionally, ashwagandha has been shown to improve mood and cognitive function, both of which can be negatively affected by stress. Enhances Cognitive Function
Ashwagandha has also been shown to improve cognitive function. One study showed that it improved memory and reaction time in healthy adults. Another study found that it improved task performance in people with ADHD. Additionally, ashwagandha may help prevent age-related cognitive decline. Boosts Energy Levels
Ashwagandha has been shown to boost energy levels. One study showed that it increased stamina and reduced fatigue in people with chronic fatigue syndrome. Additionally, ashwagandha may help improve exercise performance.
Additionally, ashwagandha may also help improve sleep quality and reduce inflammation. These effects can all contribute to enhanced energy levels. Regulates Blood Sugar Levels
Ashwagandha has been shown to help regulate blood sugar levels. One study showed that it improved insulin sensitivity in people with type II diabetes. Additionally, ashwagandha may help reduce fasting blood sugar levels and improve symptoms of diabetes.
Additionally, ashwagandha may also help lower cholesterol levels and protect against heart disease. These effects can also contribute to improved blood sugar control. Lowers Blood Pressure
Ashwagandha has been shown to help lower blood pressure. One study showed that it improved blood pressure in people with hypertension. Additionally, ashwagandha may help reduce stress and anxiety, both of which can contribute to high blood pressure. Is ashwagandha safe?
Ashwagandha is generally considered safe for most people. However, it can cause side effects such as stomach upset, diarrhea, and vomiting in some people. If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, it's best to avoid ashwagandha. What happens when you take ashwagandha daily?
As a sleep aid, ashwagandha may help people get to sleep faster and stay asleep for longer. It is also used to promote male potency. Ashwagandha has a variety of health benefits, including reduced blood sugar levels, inflammation, mood, memory, stress and anxiety relief, as well as an increase in muscle strength and fertility. Depending on your requirements, dosages vary from 250 to 500 mg per day for at least one month.
When it comes to stress relief, ashwagandha may be as effective as some prescription medications. A 2010 study found that the herb was just as effective as lorazepam (Ativan) in reducing stress and anxiety. click the link below to learn more about abhwagandha, and its real health benefits. 2023.06.02 07:01 SnoBun420 Finished Skyward Sword yesterday. I liked it.
Finished Skyward Sword yesterday. I liked it. Wii version btw. Controls
Guess the first thing to mention is the controls. You kind of have to since, motion controls are like half the identity of Skyward Sword. Well, first is to mention the non-motion controls. They’re fine. No problem there, as you would expect.
Anyway, I was okay with the motion controls. Well, I thought I was. For the most part the motion controls really just made certain things a bit more or a lot more cumbersome. So that was okay, I thought. Like, makes throwing bombs kinda annoying and stuff, and also they use motion controls in areas where it has no business being used of course, but even then I dealt with it fine. The only time it really annoyed me was in the stupid harp mingame in the pumpkin bar. Took me seven goddamn tries to beat it! So yeah, I thought it was still fine except that after beating the game I happened to play some Twilight Princess HD. Hadn’t played it in awhile and disc was nearby so why not?
Well, that certainly made Skyward Sword look worse. I thought I was generally okay with the motion controls but then playing TP it’s like, oh my god this is so much better. I can do exactly what I want when I want and not have to be overly careful with certain actions because of motion stuff. So yeah. I was kind of okay with the controls but it’s not something that made the game better for the most part Other gameplay stuff
So yeah, Fi pops up way too much. Everyone knows this but yeah like you’ll enter a room in a dungeon there is this thing that could take a little time to notice or figure out but Fi jumps out and spoils the damn thing lol.
Dowsing is a gimmick. It’s kinda lame but not the worse thing ever.
The items you get, I think that they are not that strong. The three new items are the gust bellow, Whip, and beetle. None of these items are truly new items. The gust bellow is a lamer version of the gust jar. Like, in Minish Cap that item could blow things, suck things up, do thing like pull in mushrooms to cross gaps, suck things, shoot them out, etc. The Gust Bellow is just clearing dust and blowing the propellers. Yeah, pretty weak. The whip is like the grappling hook and uh, yeah. It can pull some levers and stuff but come on, that’s not that interesting. Beetle is the hyoi pear in Wind Waker. This time it actually can do more though and has various useful upgrades. It’s a consistently useful thing and it’s cool. Bombs can also be rolled instead of just thrown overhead, so that’s neat even though I avoided using bombs when necessary because I didn’t like the controls for them. But compare this to Twilight Princess. The boomerang is basically the end result of additional features being added to it over the series. Wind Waker added the multi lock-on and Twilight added the wind effect. The Iron Boots had a whole new dimension added with the magnet walking thing. The Clawshots, instead of the upgrade being longer, you get two, which is more interesting for sure. The equivalent of the hammer type weapon is pretty much the ball and chain, and it stands out a lot more compared to the magic/megaton/skull hammer. The Spinner while limited (If you ever wished the Spinner was more useful, try Unsighted btw) was such a unique idea. I don’t think there was anything quite like it before. You get the idea. Oh yeah, the upgrade for the digging gloves was cool (Partially since one too many of the items in Skyward Sword are just the “use the thing on the thing” type) but I got tired of it so very quickly since there’s a cutscene to go underground, you have to use stamina to move faster, attacking is annoying, etc.
Stamina. I think it was handled fine. I will say that I think stamina made more sense in Skyward Sword then it did in BotW/TotK. Although again, playing Twilight Princess right after, I didn’t miss not having stamina one bit.
Combat. It’s what you expect out of 3D Zelda pre-BotW. This time they actually make use of the different directional slashes and stuff. First time you could parry enemy attacks I think. Also the vertical spin attack is really cool.
Silent Realm. I loved these. These were some of the best parts of the entire game.
Boss rush. I consider this to be the single worst implementation of a boss rush I have ever seen in a game. 3D Zelda bosses are not the most suited for a boss rush, but it’s worse here. Every time you defeat a boss you have to go through dialogue. EVERY SINGLE TIME. Why? And then the Imprisoned is part of boss rush? My god. Didn’t bother with clearing the whole thing. Just got the Hylian Shield then quit because I didn’t want to risk failing the third Imprisoned fight and losing everything. Really, really bad.
The Imprisoned. I didn’t mind the second refight because there was a good amount of time between the first two fights and there was a new mechanic added. But for the third to happen so soon afterwards? Really?
The sky. So, I heard the sky was empty. And it is. I didn’t mind that much though. Ironically Skyward Sword has the emptiest overworld in addition to the densest overworld among 3D Zeldas.
Environment variety. This is one of the biggest issues with Skyward Sword I feel. You have the three main zones and revisit them repeatedly. But first, was it necessary to have a desert and a volcano zone? I mean, you only have three, so I would think you would want to have them be as distinct as possible. For the desert to be after the volcano, it does feel repetitious. But you revisit the forest later and go to the lake, that’s fine I guess. It’s a new area although you just kinda go through it. The volcano, the other area is more volcano. The desert? Well, more desert. It all looks very samey. There’s even two fire temples, which doesn’t help.
Out of the 3D Zeldas I’ve played I think Skyward Sword feels the most “video-gamey.” The overworld areas being so dense is part of the problem. While I was okay with it in this game, I don’t need to see it return. It has a real negative effect on the way the world feels. It feels the least organic. Like, there’s all these things around and it was/is all for this little platforming challenge or small puzzle or whatever. Like, it obviously feels like “oh yeah, this is this small challenge to get around this or find this thing” and much of the world is like that. Having only one town that is disconnected from the areas contributes to the feeling. The sky world too, since it’s largely empty it feels a bit like a glorified level select hub.
Padding. Yeah, there’s a lot of it. How much it bothers you depends obviously. I heard of the Tadtones but that didn’t bother me much. Had good music, swimming was enjoyable enough, yeah. The other region equivalents were fine too but yeah it’s undeniable. The biggest issue is that it comes at the cost of the feeling of adventure. Like, going to new areas and stuff. Tough to feel that way when you have only three areas and you go back to them over and over and.
Shield durability, crafting stuff, collectibles. I don’t really know why the shield durability was a thing. It doesn’t add much to the game. My guess is that either they were overcompensating because of how powerful the shield in the previous two 3D Zeldas was and/or they needed to have more stuff for you to use money/materials on. The crafting materials is part of a long-standing problem the Zelda series has had that is still a thing to this very day in the newer games. I mentioned this in my TotK post I think but Zelda games after some point started to feel like they didn’t have enough interesting permanent things to find in the world. Like, it’s mainly rupees, less commonly pieces of heart and even more rarely more unique one of a kind rewards. It wasn’t a problem with the smaller games but the when you increase the scale of the game, you need to also followup with the stuff to find. The issue is very obvious in Skyward Sword because it’s like, gee, we don’t have enough interesting things in the world so let’s have a bunch of random bugs and junk to collect to be used in the mainly pointless durability system and upgrades. If you had the upgrade system in previous Zelda games what would be the cost? Money. Just money. But now you need money and other random stuff. I feel like it was what led to some of the stuff in BotW. There’s actually a handful of things in BotW that came directly from Skyward Sword, ironically enough.
Timeshift Stones were fun. The devs thought so apparently given how much they use the mechanic. Still, it was interesting enough to where it didn’t get old.
Dungeons were fine. I feel like I’ve heard people seriously hype of the SS dungeons and I didn’t really see it. Maybe my expectations were too high but yeah the Sandship did stand out. The sliding puzzle dungeon was also cool although the speed brought it down.
Adventure’s Pouch. This was a cool idea. I would say it’s a shame this didn’t return but BotW was the next one. Although I’m sure they still could’ve had this in some way, like you can choose between more space for weapons or more space for food. Something.
The medals are a neat idea although the actual medals themselves are uninteresting. Charms from Hollow Knight these are not.
Tedium. This is an issue. The repeated visits to areas, Fi popping up then needed, the pauses when you pick up crafting materials, crafting, etc. Story
So, about the story. Over the years I knew plenty of things about Skyward Sword but I never actually played it until now. One of the things I heard about was that it was more story and/or character driven. Like, it’s pretty apparent at the beginning of the game with the thing between Link, Zelda, and Groose. But that’s the thing. That rivalry/love triangle/whatever is a thing…...at the beginning. Like, what I saw of Zelda at the start made her pretty much my favorite version of the character in the series. And then it basically goes away for 90% of the game. Zelda herself disappears almost entirely. Zelda being out of commission for most of the game is nothing new to Zelda games but it’s worse here because of lively she was at the start. To have all that just for it to vanish is why it sucks so much.
Like, I thought there is this rivalry thing with Groose but after the game starts for real you don’t see him until like three dungeons later. Wtf?
So yeah, the characters had this promise but it doesn’t pay off when they aren’t present for much of the game. The other stuff like the master sword, well I don’t know if we really needed to know how it came to be. It’s fine, but whatever. Girahim is fine. Just fine. Fi, well nobody cares about this non-character, but I’m not saying anything that hasn’t been said before. Music
Some nice songs. Some highlights were the bamboo island theme, miniboss theme, and Lake Floria Underwater. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvA1h3P2ddY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ilC01aCgF4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L59rsOOZ1KY End
Anyway yeah. I enjoyed the game although I think it started to run out of steam in the later part. Not one of my favorite Zeldas but still enjoyable enough. I’ll go through it again someday on the HD version instead but that likely won’t be anytime soon. Lastly, I can see how this led to BotW since certain things started to become predictable in the series.

2023.06.02 07:01 Electrorouge87 Can't get glasses in a comfortable position
I have a minor eye prescription and when I first used the glasses everything was blurry. Got prescription lenses and that has resolved. Image is crisp and clear except for the edges which are still blurry and require me to move the glasses back and forth to find the right spot to correct the blur but then they are in the wrong position on my face.
The arms of the glasses feel like they need to be ablut 1-1.5cm above where they would rest on top of my ear and I get a more comfortable session if I balance the arms in my hair above my ear. Yes I've tried all the nose pads and arm adjustments, I've picked the best ones for me but it's still not good enough for a comfortable gaming session.
I frequently have the issue that there is more black screen at the bottom of my vision and the video image at the top is very high up, making me strain to see the top of the screen whilst keeping my head still.
Can anyone break these issues down and give me some advice on how to address them? Thanks

Congrats on making it to final round of the Health and Fitness contest! What a ride its been just getting to this point, you should feel proud.
I wanted to suggest some changes to a couple of the photos you are using. Criticism always has a little sting when you hear it, but I promise this feedback is in the spirit of your best interests and winning the contest. I am just a fan that wants to help Mikey.
In your 2nd photo, it's not exactly a marketable or wholesome image you are projecting when you are holding your dick like that. Its pretty aggressive. This is 2023, not 1990 Mikey.
In the 4th shot where you are squatting at the gym, you're only lifting 135 which includes the bar. Perhaps you are doing warm ups, but for the sake of this contest, understand that voters are going to perceive this as being physically weak. You absolutely do not want to suggest that you skip leg day. I'm afraid even worse, is the "derp" look on your face as you stare into the camera. You never see stuff like that in fitness magazines for a reason, you know what I mean Mikey?
Good luck, rooting for you, powerful.

2023.06.02 06:58 No_Philosopher_7447 Roommate ex best friend
I have been living with my ex best friend and roommate for the last 6 months. For a while, me having BPD symptoms, was extremely emotionally attached to him. Him. But he was very abusive towards me. During small conflicts. He would insult me more than it ever been insulted before, gas led me into thinking. I argue like shit and then I'm too stupid to stand up for myself. Make me feel like I'm too stupid to do anything, even though I was the one who always did the chores and the cooking and organized jobs. And if I had any contact with them he would make me give him my phone so he could gives two cents.
When I finally had enough and told him he should go (it's a family home. He was allowed to rent out and stay at), He called me a disgusting and awful and that I was the worst person in the world. And he threatened to make my life hell for this. But he was also trying to butter me up and manipulate me into making him stay. I realized for so long that there's been so much many relation on someone I loved so much. I talked to his mom who dropped him off, and she was saying that he was the same to her and that he is not allowed back. Now my roommate in the past with our old arguments. He punched out a window once. So no matter what the family owners of the home want him gone as soon as humanly possible. But he might not have anywhere to go. I haven't been staying at the house so it's just been him, and I'm also worried as someone who is mentally unstable and has nothing to lose, he might either hurt himself or try to burn the house down. He hasn't made any of these threats, but at the same time I have no idea what he is capable of. I'm considering filing a restraining order, so after the sudden done he won't harass me. But it's still terrifying because I don't know what he will do. In the meantime I have no evidence he will. I also don't want him hurting himself cuz that would be really sad. So I'm just in a really tough spot after being in emotionally abusive situation for a long time.

2023.06.02 06:58 GuaranteeExpensive21 An Ambivert's Tale: A Chance Encounter, Confusion, and Letting It Be
I have always considered myself an ambivert. During a trip, I met someone who caught my attention, and I felt an urge to get to know her better. Stepping out of my introverted zone, I initiated conversations with her, and we hit it off. However, the next day was the last day of our trip, and I couldn't shake off the sadness of possibly never seeing her again. We had exchanged numbers, but it felt like a connection confined to the digital world.
During the journey back, we continued to have long conversations, delving into personal details before my bus stop arrived. In one of our conversations, she mentioned that her family was looking to arrange a marriage for her, but she was not interested in going along with it. She even opened up about her recent breakup from a 12-year-long relationship. I didn't mind her past and understood that everyone carries baggage, despite not having much of a romantic history myself.
A day passed, and we exchanged a few text messages. However, I struggled to keep the conversation flowing smoothly, realizing my inadequacy as a texter. Moreover, I lacked knowledge about her interests to maintain a engaging discussion. I decided to ask some generic questions to keep the conversation going, hoping to find common interests to discuss. Surprisingly, she seemed drained by these questions, having encountered similar inquiries from guys she had met through arranged marriage setups. I didn't press any further, and the conversation eventually fizzled out.
Days later, she started referring to a guy we had talked about during our return journey as her fiancé. This revelation startled me, and her replies became increasingly delayed, even though she was the one initiating the conversation. Concerned, I asked if everything was alright, and she gave me the biggest lie of all: she claimed to hate messaging and phone calls due to her fiancé constantly bothering her. It left me slightly annoyed, but I took it as a signal to move on. In an attempt to inject some humor into the situation, I jokingly suggested we communicate via carrier pigeons, but she didn't find it amusing. I let it go, thinking that this was the end.
Unexpectedly, after a week, she messaged me on a festive occasion, and I thanked her and wished her back. Sadly, there was no reply. It left me pondering over what went wrong, whether it was something I said or a situation I was unaware of. Eventually, I decided to let it go, realizing that sometimes circumstances are beyond our control, and we never truly know what is happening in another person's life. It took me a few days to overcome the confusion and accept that it was best to move on.
Sharing this story is my way of putting a final word on the matter, without passing judgment or harboring resentment. I believe that sometimes things simply don't work out, and it's important to recognize that we can't always understand what others are going through. In the end, it's best to let it be.

At the risk of sounding too superstitious, I've been wondering if it may be best to avoid supernatural podcasts like Stories With Sapphire, Jim Harold's Campfire, and The Exorcist Files.
After listening to a few episodes of The Exorcist Files, I felt like I was experiencing spiritual warfare in my personal life.
Now, I just finished listening to an episode of Jim Harold's Campfire and he said something that prompted this question. He and his guest mentioned that they have people call in and report spiritual activity while listening or after they listen.
Is this possible? Is listening to stuff like this dangerous because we open ourselves up in ways we may not be aware of?

So I have been using the Galaxy S10 for a while now and I love the experience; thinking of buying a Galaxy A device next new years. I wonder if software features are the same with both the flagship and midrange?
Any of these features missing on A series devices? _ Keep open (in app switcher menu) _ Remaster picture (in the gallery app) _ Add potrait effect in the gallery app _ Group similar pictures in the gallery app _ Quick snap a zoomed picture in the gallery app _ In-built documents scanner in the camera _ Best shot recommendations in the camera _ Detailed SOT of battery _ Screen time goal.
