2023.03.27 05:00 chillpenguin99 Should I get a DAC/amp to use with my Meze 109 Pros?
I recently got my first pair of higher end headphones. I decided on the Meze 109 Pro.
However, I don't have a DAC or an amp. I have heard that you don't need an amp because the 109s are easy to drive. So I am mostly wondering whether I need a DAC or not. Since I spent a solid amount on these headphones, I want to make sure I am getting my moneys worth.
Follow up question. If a DAC is worthwhile, how much should I be looking to spend on one? I have seen DAC/amps that are more expensive than the 109s, and I have seen some that are super cheap. Given the quality of the headphones, I assume I shouldn't buy the cheapest DAC out there. On the other hand, it seems silly to spend $1000 on a DAC when the headphones were only $800. Is there a rule of thumb for how much you should spend on a DAC based off of how much you spent on the headphones?
My usage will mostly be listening to music on my desktop PC. I may play some games and watch movies as well. Occasionally I may plug my laptop into it.
I don't have a preferred tonal balance as I am new to all this and I have never used a DAC before.
Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you!

2023.03.27 04:51 Errodin Asus Tuf Dash 15 vs Zephyrus G14
Hey guys, I'm having a tough time deciding on a new gaming laptop. From my research my favorites are both Asus models
Asus Tuf Dash 15 Vs. Asus Zephyrus G14
I don't need a hefty gaming laptop, but I'd like something beefy enough for on-the-go gaming. Stuff like Diablo games or Path of Exile. Zero AAA gaming as I have a powerful enough desktop for that.
So far I like the Tuf Dash 15 for overall keyboard layout and design. Having the number pad on the side is appealing. Plus upgradable ram and ssd is another bonus.
Mainly looking for opinions on both models, or even a different contender if you have a recommendation. I'm not trying to break the bank either lmao.
I've read they both have potential cooling issues and the Tufs display isn't as vivid color-wise.
Anyways let me know what you think 👍.
Edit: after writing this I feel like I've decided on the Tuf Dash 15 but I'm still interested in opinions.

2023.03.27 04:51 NervousWarthog6556 The Story of DMZ Factions
Hey everyone,
One thing I haven't seen a lot of people talking is the story of DMZ. I've read through the story missions that I have (Tier 5 Crown and White Lotus, Tier 4 Legion and Black Mous) and wanted to see if the rest of the community is interested in a bit of a breakdown of what I have so far. If not, sorry for this immensely long post about a game that barely has a story.
White Lotus: A lot of the White Lotus missions are centered around exposing Legion. Legion has a lot of business dealings with AQ under the table, and so White Lotus works on finding exposing them. This includes the mission for Legion where the player is tasked with poisoning the wells at Zarqwa Hydroelectric. At Tier 3, White Lotus tasks the player with uploading the Legion deal intel, which exposes Legion to the public, resulting in massive public backlash. At Tier 4, we help White Lotus get some documents about Legion poisoning the water in Al Mazrah out of Ashika. While White Lotus seemed mostly on the up and up, they do task you with creating a Dirty Bomb at Tier 5. White Lotus seems to truly be gunning for Legion, perhaps there is a vendetta there.
Legion: As stated before, Legion appears to be a very underhanded faction. They task you with sabotaging Crown operations at first, and as time goes on, have you do more and more sketchy actions, such as poisoning the water supply of Al Mazrah. The Tier 5 missions requires you to shoot down an executive plane, but as of now, I'm unsure what the reason it, as I do not have the Tier 5 mission descriptions. Overall, Legion seems to the dirtiest of the groups, going as far as to play both sides with AQ and the NATO operators. They seem to be significantly less formal as well, just judging by their language.
Black Mous: This seems to be the most ambitious of all the PMCs. Black Mous has the player doing a significant amount of political work, like bugging an Al Mazrah politician's laptop and uncovering a corrupt politician's ties with the DRC Building at Shadow Company. Whether they intend to use this to unmask the politician or use it as blackmail remains to be seen. At Tier 4, they seem to have a lot of interest in the Chemist's work, wanting you to retrieve medical data and then acquire some of the nuclear isotopes from Building 21. They definitely have some bigger plans, perhaps using the unique radioactive material causing the Al Mazrah and Ashika radiation zones. They also appear to do a lot of request jobs for "friends," like when retrieving the locket, watch, and picture, or when rearming the bomb intended for Ahkdar village. Anyhow, they appear to have much bigger plans.
Crown: Crown seems to be by far the most focused and professional organization. However, the fact that they are not an AQ target suggests they could also have dealings with them behind the scenes, compounded by the fact that the intel from the Ashika Power Plant states that they are earning suspicious sums of money for simple jobs. As for jobs, for Tier 1-3, it mostly deals with studying cartel supply lines in the DMZ and tracking their movements to find their FOB. However, this seems to take a radical turn at Tier 4. They have you retrieve a secret Building 21 hard drive, and on Tier 5, decrypt and upload it. We can't be sure of the contents, but anything coming out of the DRC can't be good. On the surface, Crown appears to be on the up and up. I guess we'll have to see.
Thank you everyone who read this highly unnecessary breakdown. If anyone has anymore info, let me know!

I work from home, I play some games here and there to de-stress so it doesn’t necessarily have to be a top notch gaming laptop hence why I’m only willing to spend around 1k. I don’t know much about laptops so please throw some recommendations, thanks!

2023.03.27 04:14 apt8x261 AMD Radeon 680m problem with Illustrator
Hi everyone, I currently bought a HP 865 G9 with ryzen 6850HS 680m 16GB ram. Illustrator is lag like hell but the cpu and gpu in task manager is always under 10% load. I narrow it down to the cause of 512mb vram, Illustrator cant turn on GPU performance and run like shit.
It seem we dont have a solution to increase vram as I already try driver, registry, bios, different version of AI....Also, AMD Adrenaline setting tuning to Gaming doesnt work. It always back to Productivity after asking to restart.
Really like this laptop but a suck ass setting ruin the experience.
Is there anyone have a workaround? It seem AI doesnt recognize the shared vram. I also have a PC with UHD 630 graphic and AI detect 1GB vram (this card only have 128mb dedicated vram).

2023.03.27 04:11 TheodoraLynn iPad Air + keyboard replacement, USA
I'm on call all the time and need to access stuff infrequently through Citrix at a moment's notice. Because of this, I carry around an iPad Air with keyboard (total ~2 lbs) all the time. I only charge it a couple times a week because I don't use it often.
The iPad works really well, but I'm passing it down to a family member and want to know if there's something more interesting for my use case. I don't really use the iPad for anything fun. I was looking at something like the Asus ExpertBook B3 Detachable (B3000).
LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE - Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: <$1,000
- Are you open to refurbs/used? Maybe
- How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? 10 to 12 inches, <2 lbs (as light as possible), touchscreen optional, holds battery for infrequent use
- How important is weight and thinness to you? very important, will carry around daily/constantly, <2 lbs
- Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 10 to 12 inches
- Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Citrix and web browsing, probably any OS is acceptable
- If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? n/a
- Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? needs keyboard (not picky), touch screen optional, will be carrying it around daily so somewhat durable
- Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. iPad Air + keyboard serving me well, but is there anything better?

2023.03.27 04:08 RUNHOODPOWER What do I know about RUNHOOD DIY Portable Power Station?
| The Runhood power station comes with 4 different parts. First one is the hosting device, which is called the hosting engine 600. Next, we have four of these energy bars 324, a 324-watt-hour battery. This little one is the detachable AC power outlet, called the AC Engine 80, featuring the best technologies and power. And last but not least, here’s the USB engine 256, a modular USB hub, that features 4 different USB ports, including USB-C PD and USB-A QC3.0 ports. https://preview.redd.it/qoye0a25u6qa1.png?width=672&format=png&auto=webp&s=258f0045a64a130f7e6d9be900257f73cc38b0d0 So, here we have the power station’s host engine 600 rocking RUNHOOD’s branding on both sides. Holding the power station feels pretty heavy and doesn’t give any kind of cheap feeling at all. This strong and sturdy housing is made of ruggedized plastic, and the handle gives us a pretty strong and firm grip, making it easier and more reliable to carry around. Look at its orange and black color combination, it’s pretty eye-catching and easier to find outdoors. At the bottom, the rubberized grips will give you the perfect stability on any kind of surface, just like this. This power station came with these four swappable EB324 energy bars, or batteries, as you may call them, and each of them has a 324-watt-hour capacity, and you can use two energy bars at a time. Which makes a total of 648-watt-hour, it will back your electronics up and also provide a completely uninterrupted power supply. How? Well, unlike any other traditional power station, you can easily swap the Runhood’s batteries. As a result, you can easily use two of these energy bars for your power station while keeping the other two on charge, which will eliminate the waiting time for this to charge. https://preview.redd.it/qkwrbesrv6qa1.png?width=805&format=png&auto=webp&s=f639ba65f297592ef32788d4ea9afca962af4e6f Not only that, you’ll feel blessed with its “Never Lose Power” feature, which ensures that your power supply stays on even while swapping the batteries. As a result, your laptop charging and gaming will be uninterrupted, and you’ll be left with no outage. Each of these swappable lithium-ion batteries is compact, portable, lighter than 4 pounds, and is about 10-inches long. And the fun fact is, you can just pull out one of the energy bars and use that for backyard cooking, powering up your backyard speaker, or electrifying those string lights, which eliminates the need of maneuvering the whole power station. Overall, the RUNHOOD DIY Portable Power Station comes with a unique, small size, swappable, portable, and innovative modular design; you’ll get a different experience than the generic power stations. And with this huge amount of power, portability, and enormous battery capacity, you’ll be covered with your electricity demand, no matter whether you’re camping, backpacking, or RVing. submitted by RUNHOODPOWER to RunhoodPower [link] [comments] |
2023.03.27 04:06 tokyohcreator help! bought a sd. isn't working.
bought an sandisk a1 ultra (not plus, not extreme) 512 GB microsd. doesn't read in steam deck. official amazon store item, great reviews etc. I say, okay whatever, to be sure, it doesn't read in my switch, but it does notify me "can't access sd card. take it out and try again." but says the same thing everytime. flat-out doesn't read in steam deck, gaming or desktop mode, nor my phone. don't got a laptop that reads microsd or sd. my last resort is to go to library and attempt formatting it on a public pc, looking for suggestions that ARE not that or the obvious, in example, return or buy another. thanks in advance!

2023.03.27 03:57 Saanspoof Fix for screen border shadows?
Hi, I recently picked up RDR2 on PC to replay it (previously played the PS4 version, which still hasn't been updated or resold for PS5 unfortunately.) And it looks fantastic on my AMD laptop, mostly ultra settings, roughly 60 fps.
However I'm having one really major issue that's driving me up the wall. Around the border of the screen, about half an inch or so, I can see shadows morphing or loading in, or blinking. It's especially bad around mountainous areas and grassy areas. I've searched about this and found countless posts about it, but no answers as to how to fix it. Has anyone managed a workaround for this? I am open to using mods, even ones that prevent online play (I have my online file on ps). I have tried every variation of the in-game graphics settings and nothing works.
Also side note if anyone knows. I get a random crash every now and again, no idea what prompts it. By laptop isn't overheating and it's not at any specific circumstance that's prompting it. Each time it's just been while walking around.
Thanks for any help you can give. I love this game, and the issues are just really distracting and frustrating.
