2023.03.27 04:46 jhs0108 So I was in a ranty mood so I texted my aunt whoâs also an ape about why the shorts allow for accurate price discovery argument literally doesnât make sense for anything else in our economy.
2023.03.27 04:45 ALSTOCKTRADES I talked to my ChatGPT Discord bot about fake shares and how they might change a stock's value. Here's the simple explanation it gave:
Synthetic shares are financial instruments that replicate the performance of an underlying asset, like a stock, without the need for actually holding the physical asset itself. They are created through the use of derivatives, such as options contracts or swaps. Synthetic shares allow investors to gain exposure to a particular asset without directly owning it, which can offer certain advantages, such as avoiding certain taxes, fees, or regulations.
Regarding the potential manipulation of stock prices, there are a couple of ways synthetic shares might be involved:
- Creating a false perception of demand: If an investor or trader uses synthetic shares to create the illusion of high demand for a stock, this can lead to an increase in its price. Other market participants might interpret the increased trading volume or price movement as a positive signal and may decide to buy the stock as well, causing the price to further increase. Once the manipulator has benefited from the inflated price, they may decide to sell off their position, causing the price to drop back down.
- Hiding short positions: Synthetic shares can potentially be used to manipulate stock prices by hiding large short positions. For example, a trader or institution may hold a large short position in a stock, which can lead to regulatory scrutiny or cause the stock price to rise if other market participants become aware of the large short interest. Using synthetic shares, the short seller could create long positions to offset the short position and avoid the perception of a significant outstanding short interest. As a result, the true extent of the short
Regarding the potential manipulation of stock prices, there are a couple of ways synthetic shares might be involved:
- Creating artificial demand or supply: The use of synthetic shares can potentially impact the stock price by creating an artificial demand or supply for the underlying stock. As investors enter into positions using synthetic shares, the derivatives used to create them, such as options, warrant hedging actions from the other side of the trade. This often involves market makers buying or selling the underlying stock to remain delta-neutral. These actions can affect the stock's price, giving the impression of increased demand or supply, which may not be reflective of the true market sentiment for the underlying stock.
- Short selling and "naked" short selling: Synthetic shares can also be used in strategies like short selling, where an investor seeks to profit from a decline in an asset's value. In a typical short sale, an investor borrows shares, sells them on the open market, and plans to buy them back later (hopefully at a lower price) to return to the lender, pocketing the price difference. However, in "naked" short selling, an investor sells shares they have neither borrowed nor own. This creates synthetic short positions, and when done on a large scale, it may lead to a significant increase in the supply of a stock, putting downward pressure on its price, and potentially resulting in market manipulation.
- Short selling manipulation: In some cases, synthetic shares can be used to create an excessive short selling position in a stock. When a significant number of synthetic shares are created and traded around, it can dilute the real shares available in the market, leading to an increased supply of shares. This can create the illusion that the stock has a high amount of selling pressure or lack of demand, driving the price down artificially.
- Misleading trading volume: Synthetic shares can also lead to an increase in the trading volume of a stock without representing genuine buying or selling activity. High trading volumes can create the appearance of liquidity and interest in a stock, potentially attracting other investors. This might result in an over-valuation of the stock if not done for genuine investment purposes.
It is essential to note that artificially influencing the price of a stock using synthetic shares or any other means is illegal and unethical. Market manipulation is taken very seriously and exposes the perpetrators to financial penalties, reputational damage, and legal repercussions. Regulators like the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) actively monitor and enforce trading activities to ensure fair and transparent markets for investors.

2023.03.27 04:41 JustCuriousArizona Nokia, Style comparison to Ericsson, Cisco and Ciena
| Below is a comparison chart between, Nokia, Ericsson, Cisco and Ciena. Green highlight is who ever won that metric, the yellow highlight for Nokia is a result of relatively low revenue and low margins, pink highlight for Nokia is very low/high numbers in comparison to it's competitors but again a result of low revenue and margins compared to it's competitors, grey highlight under Nokia means it is in the ball park with it's competitors. Real simply stated the highlighted summation shows that Nokia stock will increase if it shows increasing revenue and margins. Note that the Earning yield is the highest with respect to Nokia, this is because the stock is undervalued at it's current trading price. For a turnaround company, this is what you want to see, buying into Nokia now, high earnings yield, is the right time to buy if you are investing for the long term. For one's investment to pan out for the long term, you need to watch that Nokia revenue and margins are increasing and that the management is focusing on doing the right things. https://preview.redd.it/pumffdr847qa1.png?width=545&format=png&auto=webp&s=35b713998b0fc74a698cbc7560097ea79fd4243c submitted by JustCuriousArizona to Nok [link] [comments] |

2023.03.27 04:32 XRay2212xray 1099B - am i doing it correctly?
Hi, never had to deal with selling shares of anything before and I am not entirely sure if i'm doing the taxes right.
I had some stock in exelon that spun off constellation last year. For whatever reason, when they gave me constellation shares, they gave whole number of shares and the partial share remaining they sent a check for $25.18.
Got a 1099B with only box 5 filled in. Essentially they are saying they don't have any record of my cost basis so figure it out yourself. They listed the transaction as .468 shares and the amount as $25.18.
I've had the stock since 1990 and my records from 1990 to 1995 were missing. I had no idea what the cost basis is either, but figured I would be able to compute the dollar cost average.
I pulled all my tax returns since 1990 to sum up the total amount of dividends reinvested plus the initial purchase amount to come up with a total cost and have the total number of shares (never sold any). So dividing that gives me 27.25 average share price. I'm entering .486 x 27.25 = 12.75 as the cost basis.
Does that sound right?

2023.03.27 04:18 iDidntGet100UpVotes I was scammed into a PPP loan. And I donât know what to do.
Howdy everyone. Business owner here. We opened in Oct of 2020. I was scammed into receiving a PPP loan.
my business has been doing well, each year weâve churned a profit of some sort. Back in the beginning it was really small, like 5-10k the first year.
Now iâm making around 180k a year with two employees. This has been really tough.
In early 2021 I had met another business owner who I traded stocks with. (Website and everything, registered with state of FL) and he had asked me if iâd like to get a loan for my business etc. I realize now I was very naive.
I was eager to take a loan and try to use the money to scale my business some, which I did. And also use it to live off of.
He did the entire application for me, states away. I remember asking him if everything was correct and legal multiple times, and he would tell me it was, and âI didnât have the right documents to get the loanâ he at one point had told me it was a mandatory referral program. I was 20, so didnât think much about it. Or ever take the time to learn anything about the loan. I sent him all of my information, including his real full name in the email when thanking him for helping me with this âPPP loan referral programâ
Regardless, he had gotten me approved for 21k and told me he wanted a super large percentage of that. I refused, and we went our separate ways. I think he said the price was like 25-30% of all of it.
3-4 months after receiving the loan I had saw so many different fraudulent loan videos on youtube, and reddit that I had gotten very concerned. I even saw other business owners being scammed into it.
I had reviewed my paperwork from the portal. (I didnât even know what bank funded me or anything. I had to find emails) and saw he had filed me as something totally and completely wrong, I think he said I was an uber driver or real estate agent. Also lied about my income and said it was almost 100k when I believe that year with my job and business only made maybe 45k.
I immediately panicked, as I had spent most of the loan living and operating my business. So, I grinded really hard, sold most of my assets like cars, and misc things, and managed to make the 21k back with interest. I paid it all back through scratch probably 5-6 months total after receiving the loan. I felt really good about that.
Iâve seen my attorney, they think itâs nothing to worry about as I donât have much I can do.
But everyday iâm in fear constantly that iâll be arrested and taken away from my family, or that this is still considered fraud and iâll go to prison. I am not a liar, cheat, thief and iâve never even received a speeding ticket. I get sick sometimes and throw up at the thought.
Are there any proactive measures I can take to further prove my innocence and maybe get in front of this so iâm not 29-30 one day before i can stop stressing?
Thanks for reading and thanks for any replies.

2023.03.27 04:16 nerffinder AGM/S&T/Matrix MG-42 differences?
No, I don't have enough, nor wish to pay the price of a used car for a G&G.
Been looking to grab one off TaiwanGun In a few months for some support action. Was combing through past posts for advice/reviews/pro/cons and had a few questions for any owners of the AGM/Matrix/S&T models:
- What, if there is any, differences between the Matrix, S&T, and AGM models? I've seen multiple comments stating that they're just rebrands of each other, Matrix being egregiously expensive at 600~ with a coupon off EVIKE, should I buy a certain one over the other? Or does it not matter.
- Does the Matrix model off Evike come with a 1 year warranty like TaiwanGun provides?
Before anyone states MG42 bad, A&K PKM/ SAW better. I understand the issues:
- Pot metal.
- More pot metal.
- Bipod is sin, get a MG3 bipod.
- Barrel to reciever joint is fragile and will bend if you bang it.
- Stock might come loose, may need to be tightened.
- Screws and pins should be inspected upon arrival and after each game.
- 7.4 Lipo is good, 11.1V if you want to end up burning the contacts.
- The charging handle can be a nuisance, others have removed it.
- For the love of God, treat it like a baby.

2023.03.27 04:04 Baty41 Stocklis- Considering getting. Are they worth it? Would they be good for me?
I'm looking at buying some stockli nelas (specifically either the 80 or 88), but it's a lot of money, so I'm here asking for advice before I jump in and spend like 75$ on a demo LOL, and then 850$ for the actual skis. (They are on that sweet sweet end of season sale.)
First, I am 5'7, 110-115 pounds, and a pretty advanced skier. (I'm also a teenager, if you are wondering, so that's probably why I'm so thin.) I'm willing to go on any marked trail, and I'm pretty willing to go into basically any off the map tree run you would ask me to, in most reasonable conditions. I am a skier in the east coast, and mainly ski Sugarbush, Killington, and Stowe.
I mainly like skiing things that I find challenging, and probably spend 30% of my time in the moguls, 50% of my time in the icy steep terrain, and the rest in the woods.
This season, I have been skiing on Volkl Kenjas which are 149 cm long, and 88 mm underfoot. I like them, however they're somewhat slippy on ice, and I want something a bit easier to really get digging into those really icy conditions that happen after a bit of rain out here. It's something I can do, but it takes a bit too much effort to hold the ice than what I want.
So mainly my questions are:
First: Length and width. I rather like my kenja's length, and the nela 80s come in that length, which is a boost for the nela 80s in my mind, however I would like skis that will perform in the bumps somewhat. Will the 80 mm underfoot perform okay in the bumps or would I have to bump up to 152 and 88mm underfoot to have performance in the bumps?
Second: How are they are they at carving through harder ice that the kenjas just wanna skid on?
Third: What's any users of the stokli nela's experiences with them? What do you bring them on? Do you have other skis for moguls, trees, etc (I'm not gonna put rocks on here because I'll probably use my kenjas to go through more rocky surfaces, and save a brand new ski for a season at least...)
Fourth: Bumps, trees. How do they go? Sort of tied into the first and third.
Fifth: Are there any skis that I might prefer better? I want something that can carve better than the kenjas but will still do fine in the bumps and trees. I don't care if they're womens, mens, unisex, or even kids skis (I was on kid skis mounted up with tele bindings last season actually, I quite liked them but grew out of the boots. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find more boots for those skis yet!) as long as they do what I want them to do. I've got my heart somewhat set on the stocklis, since they seem quite all purpose, but I would be willing to put my eye on some other skis (assuming the price isn't outrageous!)
I'm new here and this is my first set of skis I've ever bought for myself, been using my parents hand me downs for this season, so don't bash me to hard for being absolutely insane lol.

AmapĂĄ Iron Ore Mine, Brazil [KDNC] [Flair]
- Cadence owns 30% of the AmapĂĄ Iron Ore System which is an integrated mine, railway and port which was previously owned by Anglo American, the mining operation generated profits of $171m in 2011 and $77m in 2012.
- The mine is a major source of employment in the state and when operating previously was the largest employer in the state and represented the largest contributor to the GDP of AmapĂĄ amounting to 20% on a turnover basis and 1-3% based on profitability. The mine will employ 600-800 workers and indirectly 4000 workers. The economic prosperity of the region is linked to the success of the mine.
- 2023-01-07 Recent progress podcast:
- PFS Completed $949m NPV with 10% discount rate and 16 year mine life at 5.28mtpa with profit after tax of US$2.96 billion over Life of Mine
- PFS allows Cadence to engage with off-take partners, possible JV partners and strategic investors at a project level.
- "If there is a good opportunity from a strategic investor, the joint venture partners would consider taking that money and for us that would prevent any further dilution in terms of funding going into it by selling off investments that we didn't wish to or raising capital in the market"
- Options to substantially increase the NPV by reducing CapEx at the port, and increasing mine life.
- 2023-03-01 Corporate Update:
- DEV Mineração S.A. ("DEV") was unable to meet the 2022 payment schedule as per the settlement deed and although the bank creditors have reserved their rights, the settlement deed remains in full effect with all parties in discussions with a view to agree a new timetable in order to rephase payments so these can be met in light of market conditions.
- With improving iron ore prices and stability returning to shipping costs, the sale of the 58% iron ore concentrate stockpile is now economically viable. We expect shipping to recommence in the next six months, with the net revenues being used to pay the bank creditors, as per the settlement agreement.
Sonora Lithium Project, Mexico (Ganfeng Joint Venture) [KDNC] [Flair]
- Cadence has a 30% Joint Venture interest in several of the tenements in the Sonora Lithium project. The DFS envisages a total of 3.6% of ore associated with Cadence being mined in years 9 to 19 in the current 17.5kt/35ktpa LCE mining plan. Should Ganfeng accelerate production or increase mine life then the Joint Venture areas will be required sooner and in greater volume. Cadence has 839Mt LCE of mineral reserves associated with its Joint ventures which is 18.58% of the total 4,515Mt LCE of that defined.
- 2022-07-02 Recent highlights:
- Ganfeng plans to accelerate construction
- Ganfeng reviewing plans for a production rate above 17.5ktpa and an additional 500 hectares of land acquired at the eastern end of the plant site location to allow for future plant expansions.
- Sonora Phase 1 plan massively increased to 50kt/yr Lithium Hydroxide
- Ganfeng eyes US OEMs for âstrategicâ stake in Mexican lithium project. Elon Musk tweets Price of lithium has gone to insane levels! Tesla might actually have to get into the mining & refining directly at scale, unless costs improve.
- 2022-08-14
- BN Americas reports âMexico looks to buy out existing additional rights held by UK exploration giant Bacanoraâ
- US Inflation Reduction Act to benefit Mexican Automotive Industry
- 2023-03-01 Corporate Update:
- In 2021, a decree was passed by the Mexican government to reform the domestic energy sector ("Decree"). The Decree stated that lithium would be included among the minerals considered strategic for an energy transition. As a result, no new concessions for lithium exploitation by private companies would be granted. Earlier this month, the Mexican government passed a presidential decree confirming that within a 900 square-mile lithium mining zone in northern Sonora state, existing concessions would "remain safe". This aligns with the general opinion that the Decree passed by the Senate only impacts licenses, concessions, or contracts to be granted, not already those granted, as is the case for the Sonora Lithium Project.

2023-02-02 | W H Ireland Research | W H Ireland (broker) | 14.5p | WHI View: Our assessment is that the AmapĂĄ mine could be company-maker for Cadence. We are firmly of the belief that the current market cap is more than covered by the legacy investments that Cadence holds in various new technology metal companies and projects and that the addition of the AmapĂĄ stake to its portfolio can only be value enhancing. In our opinion, the development of AmapĂĄ will be transformational for Cadence and we see fair value at 71p/sh with plenty of upside potential. |

2023.03.27 03:41 ThisIsGlenn A full lifehack guide for mealkits (HelloFresh, MarleySpoon, Everyplate and Dinnerly)
Please note, this was not written by me, I found this on the internet archive Here. Credit to OP who unfortunately I can not tell who that is.
In the spirit of frugalness while maintaining good dietary healthy, and also the rising topic of meal kits, I am writing this lifehack guide on meal kits gather from my experience for the past years consuming them. Hopefully, it can inspire you and sparks good discussions.
Firstly, a misconception, you donât have to eat meal kit everyday and order them every week. I usually order the largest box (4 ppl, or 6 ppl for Everyplate) every another week, often takes 1.5 weeks to finish it for 2 ppl. I still shop at colesworths, fresh market and Asian grocers to get extra ingredients I like. The point is that I donât have to make it a duty to shop for food, there is always enough food at home and I can also cook the food i like in between
For frugalness, a discounted box is actually way cheaper than colesworth with the same ingredients, especially after the inflation by colesworthsâ greed. The maximum discount follows these patterns:
HelloFresh: 40% 40% 20% 20%
Everyplate: 40% 40% 40%
Marley spoon: 65% 50% 40% 40% 30% 30%
From the above example, assume that we only order when the discount is larger than 40% and loop only these three services. It would be 9 weeks (40% 40% 40% 40% 40% 65% 50% 40% 40%). Since I skip a week in between, a full cycle is actually 18 weeks. This is long enough for the first company to provide the maximum discount for the new cycle to restart
I believe on some level, it isnât always about being cheaper. The veggies in these meal kit are fresher than colesworths, at least from the experience of the Sydney distribution centres. I did some observation on purpose, a pack of baby spinach from colesworths would turn black and breaks down after a week; the meal kit ones are still in good shape after two. If the veggies arenât good, open chat with customer service and they will do a partial refund for the veggies with issue. Some requires photo proofs, others donât.
Regarding the recipes, HelloFresh is very healthy and especially good for the guts. The taste profile and techniques are more western oriented. Marley spoon recipes are more towards an international taste profile and culinary styles. Everyplate is a cheaper version of HelloFresh and Dinnerly to MarleySpoon. The budget meal kits have the exact taste profile to their respective parent companies. Marley spoon gives points toward everyday reward card, an extra peaks if applicable. MarleySpoon has more recipes per week while HelloFresh is more mindful with common allergies.
Is this churning of meal kit ethical? Likely yes. This is because even when the box is cheaper the colesworths, meal kits stock at wholesale price and big saving on not even having a retail shop. They can still profit on discount price. Is it ethical to try to find loopholes to always get free boxes? Absolutely NO, those companies are business that feeds workers and drivers at their distribution centres. No one deserved to be casually robbed. If you are in need, Foodbank (and many more orgs) can help, also consider contracting Centrelink. Thatâs what our tax dollars for
Lastly, my preference is MarleySpoon > HelloFresh > Dinnerly > Everyplate. With that said, a good diet is to increase varieties, so I am happy with all of them. You can definitely have your own opinion on your food :)
Ps. I still have 10+ free referral boxes of HelloFresh for those who need it, want to test the water or to get you start on the loop. PM me

Price guide. As requested, i am including my own price guide here.
The size cost depends on a few factors:
meal kit usually have a fix shipping cost around 10 bucks, varies depends on your location
most meal kit has the biggest size of 4x5 (20 serves), EveryPlate offers 6x6 (36 serves!)
HF, EP and Di underestimate the size. For example for us, 4 serves is actually 5 serves for us. This depends how much you eat and the recipe itself. MS is true to size
at 40% discount, HF will result in around 102; MS is around 108. So the estimation is around <110 per 1.5 week. EP and Di are budget variants so the boxes would be way cheaper than 10X at around 70 or 80ish!
MS is a bit more costly but it has the biggest discount and more seafood options thatâs why it is my go to if it is on discount
My yardstick:
get the highest discount possible. Skip, cancel or ignore the 20% discount. 30% is okay for Di and EP, while 30% for HF and MS is like going to colesworths
get the biggest boxes as you can afford. Since the shipping is a fixed cost, largest box results in cheaper per serve
get started and cancel as soon as you can. It takes them around 1 to 1.5 weeks to send new offers
avoid FOMO. If the offer is lower % and you still have food, wait for the best discount as the mentioned pattern
Combining all the knowledge, in our case, 1.5 week is $10X or less, meaning we can achieve less than $75 a week Your mileage might vary, yet, less than 100 per week for 2 or 3 people is definitely doable
ââ
Edit 2:
As to why I have this knowledge, I donât work for them and I am not in anyway affiliated with them.
I am just blessed with an okay job so I could just experiment everything out with my own $. There were discount wasted, money wasted on extra features or different box sizes with big4, and also money wasted with others services beyond the big4
Fully disclosure, HF and EP has referral bonus, MS and Di only gifts free boxes. Credit can be used with full price only most of the time and I never pay full price. If you donât want to give anyone any bonus by getting a free boxes from them, or just very reserved in trusting anyone, you can still get new customer discounted price for each service. Thatâs how I started, not through free boxes because I knew no one back then
ââ
For those who are seriously struggling:
I understand some maybe here to find good way to save. A quick reminder that if you are in desperate need and in hunger because of the economy. Donât be! There are helps like Foodbank (
https://www.foodbank.org.au/find-food/) and similar orgs. Also consider Centrelink if required, our tax dollors are better spend on food for people. You are not alone, stay well and stay strong
