2023.06.09 07:24 MaamanStanley Having issues with smooth flow settings in my Redmi X50 Android tv.
Living with the UI of Redmi tv isn't always smooth sailing for me. There's always some issues or the other. Like not able to control brightness in HDR contents or always switching to default picture profile on every startup or other bugs. As long as i use the tv as my PC monitor, it's been a lot more enjoyable. But just yesterday I noticed an issue.
I like smoothflow turned on in my video settings and i have it turned on in every picture profile. I always had it that way, and i thought my eyes have gotten used to the settings. But yesterday i turned on my tv and lo and behold, the smooth flow is on(on the default profile). I switched to my custom profile. The video wasn't smooth despite the settings saying it is. I went into the default profile and it's still not smooth. Again the settings said it's on.
I tried restarting the tv a couple of times and not switching over from it's default profile. But no use. It's choppy as ever.
Now apart from resetting the whole tv, is there any other options?

2023.06.09 07:21 Cute_Fun_9849 Is this a valid reason to break it off w someone?
Recently started talking to a guy I briefly dated last year. We had ended because we were both going thru some personal life events that couldn’t allow anything to progress (him being deployed to Korea and me going thru some personal life issues). I reached out to him the other day (I was in his area and was wondering about him) and so we started talking again. At first I was excited to have him come visit to hang out but as the days go on, I feel that who he is is not someone I want to give my time to. He has a tendency to talk of himself a lot and doesn’t ask me many questions about myself and things I say (doesn’t feel like he’s engaged in what I say or just waits for me to finish so he can continue on). He’s in the military, which I don’t mind, but he is constantly speaking down of others and those below him in rank and even just in general he has a superiority to him and it’s starting to bug me that he does this (I feel he sees himself as way better than others and it just doesn’t sit right with me). I feel like he’s different than before.
Is that a bad reason to break it off with someone even though I was the one who started things back up?

2023.06.09 07:20 SophisticatedBalls Have Pixels dropped in quality?
I had a Pixel 3 for about 3 years. Had a few minor issues but way less than I had with other phones. Last fall, Verizon had a deal to upgrade to a Pixel 7 or 7 Pro for essentially no cost, so I did. I exchanged my 3 for a 7 Pro. Now don't get me wrong, I do like this phone a lot, but it is a lot more glitch prone than my 3 was. From deadspots on the screen to random restarts and crashes, it has quite a few issues. They're not frequent enough to be a serious issue, but I'd say in the 9-12 months I've had my Pixel 7Pro, it has had more crashes and bugs than my 3 had in those 3 years.
Anyone else have similar experiences?

Hey. I’m 21 male for the past couple of years I’ve been so confused as to what I want to pursue I don’t have many passions except basketball but that’s something I’m not gonna pursue. I’m studying criminal justice but I really don’t think it’s for me but I just don’t know what else I could possibly enjoy. I get that there’s so much to choose from but what exactly will fit me. I know you guys don’t know the answer to that lol but if anyone has any advice on how I can find my passion. How does one even go on to choosing a certain career like I see people with company trucks or a dude flipping a sign how does one choose something it’s so crazy whenever I see someone doing a certain job like I always wonder how did they get to that point what made them want to work there? Why there? I have a really bad feeling I’ll hate what I do and end up 🔪 myself. Idek what I’m saying it’s late these have just been my thought as of late that have been bugging me.

when he does come to the surface, he struggles a lot to eat and eventually he gives up. i've tried fluval bug bites and hikari pellets. very uninterested in the bug bites. when he tries to eat the pellets though, it's almost like watching a frog eat, he misses most of the time and he's just extremely clumsy and uncoordinated. every night i put him in my baby guppy tank that floats at the surface so i can feed him and he won't swim away. he will only eat one pellet out of the 4 i give him and will give up on trying to eat. i really don't want him to starve and i don't know what to do. any help? submitted by forgeits to Aquariums [link] [comments]
2023.06.09 07:13 zebraonacid AITA if i got revenge on a racist roommate
Hi. This happened over a year ago but I’m posting it here out of curiosity. Last year was my senior year of college. I got assigned a roommate who was a sophomore. We were both very different people, she was extremely religious and extremely populahad a lot of friends. Since it was my senior year I mostly kept to myself because I was a STEM major and all my time went to school. We were cordial but mainly kept to ourselves. A few weeks after meeting her I started noticing some weird things, my desk would be clean when I leave then be completely messed up when I got back from classes. As if someone looked through my things. Then one day I came home and there were dirty and muddy slippers on top of my pillow! I asked her if she put them their and she said “I thought they were yours”….they were not mine. They were another roommates shoes.
One day, the RD randomly told me I had to leave and was being moved to another dorm. They said my roommate didn’t feel comfortable living with someone who wasn’t religious. My roommate also had a problem because I wore a mask due to Covid…because she is anti-vax and believed Covid wasn’t real. She also told them I’m a “witch” because I had “crystals.” These “crystals” was jewelry and was in a closed drawers…so I knew she looked through my things. When she got home I confronted her and told her if she had concerns she could talk to me about it. She decided to go on a rant and list all the problems she had with me. Which were : she thought it was weird that I had no friends and was always in my bed or studying in the living room, she thought it was creepy that I watch true crime documentaries by myself, she said I’m antisocial and don’t talk to her….even though we’ve had many conversations before this issue, and she said she doesn’t like that I’m not a Christian. I felt treated very unfairly because I didn’t really do anything to her.
So, before I moved out, I went into the bathroom and pissed in her shampoo, conditioner, face toner, makeup, and lotion. I also poured piss in the carpet around her bed and into her mattress foam. Then I quietly moved out. About a month later she found out and posted me on social media and kept telling me I’m going to get arrested. I felt kinda bad but didn’t care at the same time because she was a cunt tbh. I didn’t get in any trouble and graduated just fine.
The people who found out definitely told me I’m a psychopath and need help. She had all her friends attempt to get me suspended which didn’t work. I even lost friends over this and got called a “wild animal”
I forgot to add, I’m Asian and she’s Caucasian. Later she made a lot of tik toks making fun of Asians ect. That’s why I assumed her dislike towards me was based on race and that led to me doing what I did.

2023.06.09 07:12 Bright_Albatross497 Trump indictment
The New York State Attorney General's Office charged Donald Trump on March 30, 2023, with two counts of criminal contempt of court. The accusations arose from Trump's failure to provide the Attorney General's Office with documents and other evidence as part of its probe into his business activities.
Trump entered a not guilty plea to the allegations, and his trial is set for July 18, 2023. He could spend up to a year in jail on each count of conviction.
The charge is Trump's most recent legal obstacle after years of being pursued by inquiries into his business affairs. In addition to the New York probe, the Manhattan District Attorney's Office and the House Select Committee looking into the attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, are also looking into Trump.
Trump has denied all wrongdoing and said the investigations are being conducted for political reasons. Additionally, he has referred to the charges as "a witch hunt" and a "hoax."
There have been a variety of responses to the indictment. While some have hailed the Attorney General's Office for keeping Trump accountable, others have decried the accusations as politically motivated.
How the indictment may impact Trump's political future is still to be determined. Although he has made suggestions that he would run for president again in 2024, the indictment may make it more challenging for him to secure the Republican nomination.
An important milestone in the ongoing investigations into Trump's financial affairs is the indictment. Although it is unclear how the case will turn out, it serves as a reminder that even leaving office, Trump is still up against legal obstacles.

2023.06.09 07:04 Spaced-Invader Looking for guidance in setting up a single player "story mode" playthrough
[This is a cross-post from the other sub because I'm out of the loop and don't really know which is the active / popular one, so sorry if its a duplicate for anyone....]
Since about the release of Extinction, I've wanted to do what would best be described as a "story mode" playthrough of the game. This would consist of treating each map as a chapter in the story where I could only play on that map (i.e. no tames / equipment brought from other maps) until I've passed beaten all of the Alpha bosses and gotten the Alpha ascension from that map and then been dropped into the next map in the line to repeat the process. Over the years I've tried it several times on live servers, even managing to get a group of friends to join me for the ride a few times, but I've always ended up failing because live server settings have led to it taking as long as 3 months per map to successfully breed up strong enough tames to move on to the next. Because it takes so long, I either end up losing my group and burning out trying to do it solo, or it just takes so long that the server itself dies out before I can finish.
Anyway, I've decided to give it another go, but this time I'm hoping to just do it in single player so that I have control of all of the mods / settings and so that if I start to burn out and need a break, I can just pause my progress where I am and then return to it in a few weeks / months when I get bitten by the bug to play again. That said, I haven't played single player ARK since 2016 and have absolutely zero idea of how to set it up so that things like breeding and farming don't take forever. Additionally, there are some settings that I'd like to have in this playthrough that I've heard are server settings, so I'm not really sure if I can even do them in single player. Running a single person private server is an option (sort of... I'd have to run the client and the server on the same machine and I don't know how well ARK handles that), but if possible I'd rather avoid it.
So if anyone could give me some guidance on the settings needed to achieve the following list of "must haves", I'd really appreciate it.
Here's the list:
- Need to be able to transfer between maps with my character intact
- Breeding / growing times that don't rely on a 24/7 sever to work correctly
- Having the good level distributions from maps like Ragnorak on the story maps (this is one that might only be possible on a server and not in single player, so if that's the case, please let me know)
- Dinos shouldn't despawn if you go out of render (idk if this is actually an issue in ARK, but some other games will completely despawn mobs if you go out of render while in single player, so if you had found one you like, but need to go back to base for the right gear, its gone when you get back)
- The ability to breed special dinos like Wyverns and Rock Drakes (this is another one that I've heard is a server setting)
- A way to increase wild dino max level (mostly to ensure I don't have to breed 100 generations to get dinos with good enough stats to solo the harder bosses)
- A way to make harvesting tames like Ankys auto-swing while being carried instead of needing to get off and ride them manually
- Any other difficulty settings that will make it possible to solo things like the Overseer within the time limits
EDIT: Also if anyone has any suggestions for "must have" mods that make single player better / more enjoyable, that would be great.

2023.06.09 07:04 heearrt In this post I share the rules I had growing up, which isn’t even the abuse yet it impacts me more.
I sometimes feel like the rules I had growing up, was worse than the actual abuse from ex stepdad. He would get mad when we cried, yelling into our face towering over us etc. And other scary things. This will be an essay length read, so thanks in advance if you read it.
And it’s like my mom and him didn’t compromise, it was more like they combined their rules than agreeing on some.
Just to name a few:
My mom worked as an environmentalist, so “save the plant” “reduce, reuse, recycle” stuff. She didn’t let us use plastic, straws, paper bags….with a few exceptions. And if she saw trash on the ground in public, she most the time just HAD to pick it up.
And both her and my stepdad were eco groovy, so biking or walking only to school, which was around 5 miles combined each day. We ran errands on bikes if it was closer than 5 miles: the bookstore, market, even to hiking trails. When my mom started letting us bus in middle school with HER money, my stepdad threw an adult tantrum. He seemed to enforce the rules more than her, very rigid guy.
We had a 5 minute shower limit, and if we went over my stepdad would threaten to make us cut our hair…since that takes up most of showering. He didn’t allow make up, not even in high school, it was luck for him to only complain about it. (Didn’t matter if you were a girl or boy.) He didn’t allow shaving, he got pissed when I was 12 and tried. He gave naturalist vibes. He didn’t even like my mom wearing lipstick. I am still shocked at 21, seeing my mom wear make up, because I didn’t know she was into it. Ages 5-15, we were living with my ex stepdad. When I was around 6, my mom was trying to teach me how to shower on my own, and my stepdad yelled that I’m old enough to know and she’s wasting water. So I didn’t properly learn until later on. (Side note: he also interfered with her teaching me how to tie my shoes, because he didn’t like her teaching me the “bunny ears” way, he wanted the other way, even though “bunny ears” is easier for me. I wore Velcro mostly because of that).
My mom and stepdad were both very anti screens, the tv was off 98% of the time. We had one of those old fashioned 90’s tv’s, no cable purposely—even though between both of them it was affordable—we just weren’t allowed enough tv for it. My mom turned on Little House on the Prairie, when we did laundry, and like I said..stepdad enforced it more and would yell “I thought you didn’t like them watching tv!!”. My mom took any screens we had away, when we stayed home sick, because “if you are well enough to use a screen, you are well enough for school”. And if we had a fever for a week, then she’d allow us to which Christmas classics. For the most part, we weren’t allowed to use our phones in the car, because she’d prefer us to look out the window, than electronically isolate ourselves. I got my phone at 13, but she said “that’s my phone, you’re just borrowing it” a lot. I was 15 when I got full autonomy over it….that’s when we left ex stepdad as well. When my older brother was 17, he was being toxic online (btw he had to fight for his social media privilege), I was 14 at the time and my little sister was 12. And because they didn’t want him using our devices, we got punished as well, group punishment I guess. Except for my ex stepsister who’s my age, she got to keep all hers. My sister and I’s only Christmas present from them that year was 1 hour screen time, and that’s it then we had to give it back. I just realized how much I wrote about this, so I’ll move on but just know there’s more.
My mom was a health nut, only allowed fast food once a year after our Christmas pictures, like a tradition. My stepdad couldn’t control himself around chocolate, so we weren’t allowed to have that in the house. If there was ice cream in the fridge, we had to ask permission, or we’d get yelled at. And most the time we only had vanilla ice cream in the house, we’d use chocolate sauce sometimes. (There was exceptions to not having chocolate in the house). The most sugary cereal we were allowed was mini wheats, or Cheerios we could add sugar into it. We were only allowed that healthy wheat bread. My siblings and I were forced to make our own lunches from 3rd grade on, while my stepsister was allowed to buy lunch at school. While all the other kids brought cupcakes during school/class parties, my mom only let me bring fruit or other healthy snacks. My stepdad didn’t even like school parties or movie days, he was professional, and complained that school is for learning not wasting time.
All these rules were from 5-15. There’s so many other rules I had growing up, just the things I wasn’t allowed or the activities I was forced to do: archery from age 6+, orienteering from age 7, backpacking from middle school-high school, ice skating. All this on this post seems to have a bigger impact, than my stepdad actively abusing me, screaming that crying is for babies when I was 5…and everything. Having such a restrictive life was hell.

2023.06.09 07:04 Lord_Andyrus Hexblade Hot Take!
First Time Poster on this Reddit, but long time Forever DM.
This is just a quick Hot Take, I wanted to know if I am alone in this or if this itches anyone else inside their skull as well...
I have now seen, in multiple Campaigns, and in countless Actual Play Series including Dimension20 and Critical Role, complete and utter Missrepresentation of what a Hexblade Warlock is. And it bugs me to no End!This started when I found out that Fjord in CR Campaign 2 was a Hexblade even though his Patron should obviously have been the Fathomless. And yes, I know the Subclass had not yet been released, but still. His Patron is more of a Great Old One, or even a Fiend would work better considering its origins.
And this continued with Aimee Carerros Character in EXU, multiple Emily Axefort Characters in D20, other Actual Play characters I saw on the web and even some homegame characters I have heard about at this point. It seems as if the trend here is to just make any Warlock that one wants to be Melee based into a Hexblade, with no regards to their actual Patron at all.
There is already a way to make any Pact into a Melee based Character! The freaking Pact of the Blade Boon for that very thing!Hexblades are supposed to have a powerful Sentient Weapon as their patron, like Black Razor or the Sword of Kass. Which is a really cool concept, that I would really like to actually see used at some point!
The whole notion of "Hey this Fiend I made a Pact with turned me into a Hexblade!" invalidates the entire existence of the Pact of the Blade. Because why would you ever take a Pact of the Blade with another Patron, if you can just turn your Archfey Warlock into a Hexblade and gain an insane freaking Melee Bonus?
I just find it sad that the actual concept of the Subclass is just shunted this much, as well as an entire Pact Boon.Just seems like a weird bit of senseless Min-Maxing that has become the norm at this point.

With Almost 10 million people living in LA county with one of worst traffic jams, escaping the city would be a challenge. Now, 85% of L.A's water is imported and With only 14% gun ownership rate and more than hundred Thousand gang members Things could go Mad Max real fast. However, on the bright side LA has many Military bases. Furthermore, LA is know for it's good weather year round. California is also the most agriculturally sustainable states with the most bio diverse options from Desert, forest, tundra, grassland or mountains if you choose to bug out.
